This year hasn’t exactly been the one I thought it would when the season was underway. I seen a team that underachieved last year only loose one player. I saw additions of two good to go all- americans. I seen a great hall of fame coach with a deep team that could out hustle every team it played and would probably be able to shoot the lights out. I saw a point guard that had the ability to lock up his man and get anywhere he wanted to on the court.

But after some injuries, tough loss after tough loss, and looking at a team that didn’t look like they trusted each other as far as they could throw one another. My faith was starting to fade. The once always reliable Peyton Siva was hobbled by an ankle injury. Our deep team became a team that was hampered by injuries including three season ending ones, and some other nagging injuries that keep the team from developing the talent that it had.

But the team never gave up. As fans we got to give the players and the coaches’ credit. When everything seemed like it was headed down hill, with an ugly loss to a team like providence or even ugly wins against teams like DePaul. Our team fought through what the nay sayers had to say, and they pulled together behind their coach and fearless leader, and took control over a season that at some points of the season seemed to be unfulfilling.

Now look at where we stand today, six straight wins, big east tournament champions, in the sweet 16. And i was one of the loyal diehard fans that were very critical of our team this year, but looking at us right now i couldn’t be more proud. To go through all that we've went through and still fight as hard as we have to be where we are is truly remarkable. Did we leave some plays out on the court? Sure. Where there some questionable coaching calls? Maybe. But the fact still remains that we've made it this far, even if it had to end Thursday (which i would die if it did), I would still be proud to call myself a cardinal fan.
