Our good friend and learned observer Joe Rexrode of the Lansing State Journal puts forth an article (hosted on the C-J's website) that clearly demonstrates that he has seen (at most) precisely one Louisville game this year: the barn-burner versus Memphis. Otherwise, I am afraid our old friend Joe's thought process went like this:
"Louisville? They've still got Pitino, right?"
(checks media guide, confirms Pitino still our coach)
"He likes to press & run, right?"
(fails to check any scores or statistics from any Louisville game this season)
"Siva is fast, let's throw that in there!"
(Siva is very fast, but that is a tangentially related fact, like the fact that we wear shoes)
"Time to mail this one in, boys. MSU + UofL = Kentucky Derby. Even got a money quote from Izzo to help me out. What a guy!"
I mean, Lord knows that when I think of a game between the team ranked #194 in possessions/game and the team ranked #96, I think there will be an up-tempo game.
