I feel pretty good about Michigan St.

So yesterday I had the chance to go and preview our foes in Nationwide Arena in Columbus. I won tickets via AT&T Ticket Chasers promo that my friend back here alerted me to (he won tickets too). Watching the games were a lot of fun and sans the fact that I had two absurdly obnoxious (the term "Royal Jackass" was used multiple times) Michigan State fans in front of me, who pure homers and were very disrespectful to a kid next to us that has a mild form of autism (he really liked my Dunking Cardinal shirt, and the kid was a wiz with stats) which made me sick - I had a great time as March Madness games in person, with nothing personally on the line, were both relaxing and fun.

Watching the Michigan State game, and maybe a few of you here can say otherwise, I had thought watching them in Big 10 ball that they were much quicker on the floor or maybe it was just the TV. Green is a beast on the floor, but not very mobile. Saint Louis University really used it to their advantage, but got out muscled in the paint and were forced to do a lot more passing than I think they wanted to.

Also - Michigan St. seemed to want to set up an offense at the start of the possession, but then dilly-daddled around passing the ball to find an open look, or to get to Green. Watching Tom Izzos face as this was going on was entertaining. He wasn't happy about their lack of effort - and a pair of basketball saavy Michigan State fans behind me echoed this by mumbling - "We're making SLU look like all-stars. We need to move out there."

So - all in all - watching that game I feel really really good about Thursday and the game was a hell of a way to start my spring break.
