With the projected #1 seeds losing in their respective tournaments, it's looking like the gap between the elite teams and the rest of the field has narrowed. So what teams in the 3+ seed range are ready to step up and make a final four run? Match-ups will mean everything this year, and here are some teams that I think will be a pretty tough to deal with:
Florida State. Great senior leadership and have accomplished something that few teams could by beating Duke and UNC twice. Plus they have some real NBA talent.
Georgetown. Princeton style offense with Big East athletes makes them dangerous, especially for teams that have not seen that style yet this year.
Louisville. Relentless defense from a team that is battle tested and peaking at the right time, if Louisville has just an average game offensively they can be very hard to beat.
Any team from the Big 10. In the games I've seen this year, the Big 10 just seems more athletic, more polished, less grind it out style than in past years. And because they've been beating each other, Big 10 teams may have worse records than comparable higher seeded teams.
So who have you seen that could be a tough match-up?
