I'm not posting this to undermine our great victory in any way and I don't believe that I am doing so by pointing out what I see as a disturbing trend in Cardinal land. We've all questioned this team's skill level and the evidence has been the frequently putrid offensive performances this year. Personally, anyone would lose faith in a team that loses several home games and looks bad doing it. Rick Bozich of the CJ has echoed that, we've echoed that and many in the mainstream media have all year. That said, I've listened to Rick Pitino on U of L radio and there is a growing, surly agitation towards any Cardinal in the fan base that has criticized this team. He's generalized the internet community as pepole who don't know anything about basketball etc. After the game last night, he commneted again on an issue that he says doesn't bother him at all. He blew off criticism of Siva late in the year and came up with some sort of ignorant generalization about the "instant gratification" society we live in that really had nothing to do with basketball. I became very upset with his comments about online posters (as I am one) and I have noticed Pitino's attitude on this rubbing off on our players. Sive and Chris Smith have both said, "Nobody belived in us," etc. Smith even implied that we were all fair weather fans that would be back when the team wins. I've noticed this trend of disconnect between our team and the online fan base and it disturbs me.
I'm a big fan like all in here and I don't like what's going on about this.
