Last night's appearance in the Big East Championship game was our third in four years. That third appearance is tied, with Georgetown, for the most since Louisville joined the league in 2006. Their second Big East Tournament Championship also gives them the most titles since joining the league in 2006. During 2012 Louisville also surpassed Pittsburgh as the winning-est program in the Big East, since they joined. That makes Louisville the winning-est program, in what has widely been considered the nations deepest and toughest league, for better than half a decade.
The Big East season officially ended last night. It ended in just about the most glorious way it could have, and after what we've seen, during the last week, I don't think there is any way to deny that this team is playing their best basketball right now. Which is exactly when you want to see your team playing their best basketball.
The second-third of the season is in the books, and Rick Pitino is now the winning-est coach,..... in the toughest league in America over the last six years. He's been to the title game as much as anyone, and he's seen his program hoist/ bring home the Big East Championship trophy more than any other coach during his time in the league. After Vandy finished off Kentucky this afternoon, the Cards are now undefeated against the Tournament Champions of six different leagues, and 6-1 against non-conference opponents who are in the NCAA Tournament. Before Vandy beat UK, Louisville's RPI was #13, and their SOS was #5.
The last third of the 2012 season begins less than a week. Guys,.... thoughts?
