Cardinals Help Lift 9-Year-Old's Spirits
A cool story from Monday night to brighten your Wednesday morning.
Nine-year-old Blake is a huge Cards fan who was born with a serious heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS
Obviously, it's been a difficult stretch for Blake, but his spirits were brightened significantly on Monday when he was able to attend the U of L/UConn game and then meet some of the players in the locker room afterward.
He brought Ian Klarer's team drawing with him, and the following is what took place.
At the game:
Getting some ink from F-Dub:
CS5:
GORGS:
The King:
LOVE this shot with a tie-less Pitino:
Classic Peyton:
Good stuff, fellas.

Great stuff.
This makes me more proud for our team than any win on the court could do. Well done guys.

My eyes might have just welled up a lil bit.
Especially when I saw him holding the Kings hand. I for real love all of these pictures.

Today's going to be a good day, thanks to Blake.
I have a space heater that I cannot function without under my desk at work. It runs all year round (even in the summer time), and serves as a pacifier and a noise maker when I make calls I don’t want anyone to hear. Well it died today. Apart of me is lost, but hearing Blake’s story and seeing the pictures warmed my heart to a degree that I don’t even realize my feet are cold.
You have to love this team.
Glad they could help make Blake’s day brighter.
Good stuff.
Gotta love it when a team and University comes together to do something for their community like this. A former WVU player and current Chicago Bears player recently did something similar for a kid and it makes me as happy as can be to see players reaching out to kids like this.
Kudos to the Cards and Card Nation for likely making that the best day of this kid’s life.

Best Night Ever
I’m Blake’s cousin and i wanted to share that his mom was texting me while this was going on, and she said the players were SO nice, and Blake was on Cloud 9 the entire time. When I called the university to see if Blake could get a few autographs, I spoke with Mark Lieberman — he was SO nice and without hesitation said Blake could definitely meet them after the game. My cousin also said Mark was “completely awesome!” Blake feels like a super star, and I’m just glad he had something to take his mind off the bad stuff. I’m really proud to be a Cards fan!
On his way home Blake said “Best night ever.” :) Thanks, everyone, for the kind words!

The bug that took all of SB Nation down was apparently centered around FanPosts
They’re off the front page of every site on the network, but you can still access all of them by going to the FanPost section.
Still not sure what exactly happened. Waiting for a post-mortem from the tech team.

I would just say this
If he decided to sell those (maybe even some proceeds going to charity) I would be happy to buy. I need that framed for my man room! Thanks again!
