Card Chronicle On The Radio

Just a reminder than Mark Ennis and I will be back on the air tonight from 7-9 on ESPN Radio 680. You can also catch the show streaming live on ESPNLouisville.com.

We'll talk college hoops, last night's big win and have Yahoo Sports national columnist Dan Wetzel on in the first hour. Then in hour two, Brett McMurphy of CBS will join to talk about the Big East's addition of Memphis and what, if anything, it means for Louisville's potential move to the Big 12.

We'll also be taking calls from you at (502) 267-9680.

Russtruss_medium

This is also your thread to talk Kentucky/Florida, Ohio State/Purdue, the Louisville ladies vs. UConn, Teen Mom 2 (Leah cheated on Corey AGAIN...girl is straight trash, y'all) or anything else that strikes your fancy.

doesn't seem to be working for me either

but it could be that I’m some kind of technological Neanderthal. If anyone knows how to make it work, let me know.

yep, that's where I went

but no sound. I mashed every button I know how to mash once I got there…

Anyway, thanks Chick.

Watching the UK game...

Apparently Louisville has one 7 in a row now, or something around there. ESPN actually pays these people?

Am I a horrible person for considering ditching one of my friends

that I’ve had for about 19 years because he’s becoming a worse and worse UK fan. I mean, he’s always been a UK fan, but ever since Calipari, he’s become a real jerk. His wife has always been an obnoxious UK fan, and I’m really starting to hate her pretty bad. He texts me as he’s leaving Rupp tonight just to talk shit about UL and how we are excited about beating an unranked team last night. (A team that swept them last year btw) Please tell me I’m being to harsh, or support me on ridding my own personal CGR from my life. I’m seriously torn.

According various religious and philosophical texts, the only UK fans who you are required tolerate are those who are blood-related to you.

And a guy knows when his wife is intolerable to his friends so, at the very least, he should tone down the inherent obnUKxiousness towards you. Between his wife and his obnUKxiousness, you now have two solid bases to not bother with him . . . at least until the end of the basketball season.

UK fans have been pretty bad as of late

And it won’t get any better anytime soon. They looked like world-beaters last night. But I won’t give them the title until they play a ranked team away from the friendly confines of CorRuppt Arena. The game against Kansas on Nov 15 in New York doesn’t count, as it was the 2nd game of the season.

My wife is a UK fan, and she’s just as bad as the rest of them. They love to take digs at UL after a UK win – that’s just what they do, so just live with it and remain the rational and down-to-earth one. They also love to talk about their great history (2,000 wins, 7 titles, etc), but refuse to acknowledge the Billy Gillespie years, early tournament exits with Tubby, as if they didn’t exist. There aren’t many rational ones out there, but if you find one, keep him around so you can control your blood pressure a little better.

They also don't like to talk about

the fact that they’ve been on NCAA probation in every decade since the 40’s, and that they’re one of only 2 basketball programs to receive the NCAA death penalty. Bring up any of that, and they say “7 titles baby”.

by Cards08 on Feb 8, 2012 7:50 AM EST up reply actions

They must be the only sports program ever that wears the "win at all costs" label proudly

Looks like a classic ends justifies the means situation and they are totally unapologetic about it. Kind of sad, really.

Couldn't agree with you more

And don’t even try to convince them that UK is NOT the greatest basketball program in history. UCLA is not even in their vocabulary.

no doubt they look amazing right now, but no amount of wins or skill compares to the joy of getting to know our guys over sevreral years and watch them develop into a good and hopefully a great team.

Cal has produced a shallow basis to be a fan. If they dont win a championship, then the season was meaningless and the guys that stopped thru for a year mean nothing but failed pawns. Yet no matter how this season ends, guys like siva and dieng are loved and appreciated like extensions of our family. I have to imagine that deep in their fragile souls they miss that aspect of college ball.

i would be crushed if ul hired a coach that turned our program into one like uk’s. When we win our next championship, I want it to happen on with guys I recognize and know.

by WindyCityCard on Feb 8, 2012 1:07 PM EST via Android app up reply actions

Nope

Sounds like you have every reason not to like the guy anymore, I consider you get rid of him.

For those that missed the game tonight, or still haven't made it out to go see the women play...

They play so hard all the time. They’re worthy of the support. They just outworked the number 3 ranked (and top rebounding) team in the nation to out rebound them by 4. If their shots would have dropped at their average rate the win would have been theirs.
All I’m saying is…
Be there on Saturday at 2 when they play Syracuse. It’s a big conference game for them, and they deserve your support. (plus the tickets are super cheap!
Go Cards.
