A little hold-me-over until Villen. The crowd roars do it for me.

I absolutely agree with this, it clearly beats the 40+ called fouls games we are too used to seeing, but I was wondering this.............

did anyone else think that, especially in the first half, that Chane was stripped of the ball a lot when there were a lot of hands and arms reaching in and swatting at the ball. With all those arms moving, there is always some contact and I know the Big East refs tend to call that a lot. Of course, I am just going by the tv angle so it might not have looked so bad in person.

Anyone else see it that way? And again, I would rather see those not get called as much, as long as it goes both ways.

by Carolina Cardinal on Feb 7, 2012 12:49 PM EST up reply actions

Just as bad in person, if not worse. Big point of frustration for my cohort.

This was awesome to hear on the TV.

Crowd was LOUD. ESPN guys (Sean, Bill, Jay) spoke very highly of the atmosphere in the first half. Second half, they were beside themselves at how rocking the Yum! was.

by Remote Cardinal on Feb 7, 2012 10:35 AM EST up reply actions

I desperately want to see the Villen vid because of that crew!

I was at the game and wouldn’t trade it, but I’ve gotta hear what those guys had to say. Nothing beats Raff when the house is rockin’.

by Sohl on Feb 7, 2012 10:40 AM EST up reply actions

If we were UK

and kept our starters in until 15 seconds to go we could have won by 40. Did anyone think after the Providence game that we would beat anyone like that?

by midwestkids on Feb 7, 2012 10:55 AM EST reply actions

I've been a UofL fan for 40+ years

and I don’t think I’ve ever seen us beat anyone like that. I’ve seen dominating wins, but I’ve never seen a team so demoralized. One thing that has bothered me about this team heretofore was their lack of killer instinct. Last night that was decidedly not an issue. They got UConn down and stomped on their throats.

It's been especially obvious this year

that we haven’t been able to step on the other team’s throats. I feel like there are so many teams this year that we beat by 8-12 points that we should have beat by 15-20. I hope that changes now.

Jeff Goodman is trying to put his foot in his mouth, but Gorgui keeps blocking it.

I remember when a top ten ranked Kansas came into Freedom Hall in the early seventies

and I was sitting just behind Henry Bacon’s parents as the Cards (Bacon, Bill Bulter, Al Vilcheck, {was Jim Price on that team?}), when up by 6 at the half, and added 6 more to win by twelve; we controlled the game all the way in a tough one with plenty of easy break out baskets too. The favorite game I ever attended!

Btw, the comeback last year ranks mighty high in Cardinal lore for me too, awesome display!

This is why Coach Pitino

Says that someone didn’t play well when they don’t play like this. We are all like “WTF I’M SO TIRED OF PITINO SPEAK HE’S OVER THE HILL IS HE CRAZY?! THIS IS WHY THIS TEAM IS PLAYING LIKE THIS HOW CAN HE PUT THEM DOWN LIKE THAT?!!?!?” But he knows and can see what these players were capable of and he knows their potential, anything less causes him to be disappointed and critical.

I have a dream....

That we beatdown WVU this weekend & send them f’n packin’ out of the Big East formally!!

Some great video interviews from ESPN680 Louisville after the game. Kyle, Chris, Russ, Gorgui

Side note: I could listen to Gorgui talk about “team”/ “helping the team win”/ and in general defer from himself,….. all day long.

World famous Freedom Hall for the thrill and excitement of college basketball at its finest.

Steps called.

Side note: I knew John while I was married the first time. I ended up with a second wife but John was truly old school. He always called her by my first wife’s name.

Tong was a legend.

Moth is still awesome though. He’s extremely good compared to the rest of the country. The “EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE” is his shtick and I happen to like it.

When Im at home I get embarrassed by his "style"...

But let me say this, when I’m AT the game, I feel just as pumped as any other fan (who doesn’t remember JT).

Jay Bilas talking shit to start looking unimpressed. everyone seeming bored.

By the end they were just astonished.

That guy in the white midway up section 101

His reaction to Kyles dunk. That’s the kind of fan we need at ever game.

Oh by the way

Can we talk about Digger Phelps? What’s that guys problem?

by midwestkids on Feb 7, 2012 1:01 PM EST reply actions

You said it. He really has a problem, either with us, Pitino, the university, something.

His comments were very unprofessional. Everyone has a right to have an opinion, but he is over the line with the vitriol of his derisive personal attacks on Siva and the team.

Digger needs an anal-cranial inversion

His head is where his ass should be and vice versa.

Basically tried to merge two or three knocks at Louisville into one statement and failed miserably.

Paraphrase:

Reece and Hubert opened the halftime break with a few comments on how the defenses of both teams were playing well and also commented on the quickness of both Siva and Boatwright. Then out of nowhere…

Digger: “you can’t start 5-21 and call yourself a good team. UConn goes up 3 then Louisville decides to play.. that’s great.. for a guy [Siva] who’s supposed to be the new…”
Hubert: “What?”
Digger: “Kemba”
Hubert: “Peyton Siva’s game is like Kemba’s game. He just needs more confidence in that mid-range jump shot. They [the Cardinals] need to run that high screen a little lower so when he comes off the ball screen, he’s got a 15 footer rather than a 20 footer.”
Digger: “Eeer..um..[RAGE I HATE LOUISVILLE AND THE FOUR CORNER’S OFFENSE IS THE BOMB!] Siva is not great at finishing at the rim.”
Hubert: “Siva certainly knows how to finish, he burnt UConn last year. I think his confidence is off and that’s why he’s passing every time he gets in the lane. He needs to be a threat to score as well.”
Reece: “Well, Siva’s certainly doing well with distributing the ball to the wing. He’s got rattles of [Siva’s Assists and other stats at the half]”

Won't be quick, I'm thinking

Gonna take some effort to boil that down to highlights. Decisions about which awesome plays to leave out, etc. – or else the time to edit a 30-minute highlight video.
