Winning 101 - what to do when your shot is not falling
What is the definition of making a major contribution when your shot is not falling? see Chris Smith.
Check out this stat line:
13 - rebounds led both teams (and at 6'2")
6 - assists led both teams (and 3 times the next best Card with only 2)
3 - steals led all Cards and tied for game leader among all players
0 turnovers - only Card who played more than 10 minutes without a turnover
only committed one foul
and I am not even counting that thunderous drive and left hand dunk near the end for his only field goal. Nice exclamation point there.
Even though I watched the game, or most of it with the lousy ESPN3 feed and freeze ups, when I saw these stats I couldn't believe it. Especially the rebounds. Chris has 13 and Gorgui only has 4? Can this possibly be right? Well, I guess it is.
This performance was the epitome of helping your team win even when your shot just isn't there. I hope everyone on this team takes note of this outstanding performance and emulates it in the future. If they do we have a lot of wins in our future. Great game Chris.
Go Cards.

There were some things that dont't show up in the stat box that he was doing all night
Chasing after loose balls, deflections, and most importantly I noticed him on a couple occasions telling the younger guys where to be on the court. #leadership
My favorite play of his last night was tipping the long rebound to himself.
Which setup an alley oop to Chane.
That was real nice
My favorite play was the one that didn’t happen. Russ wanted to shoot the ball so bad because of the difference between the shot and game clock. He was pleading with CRP and even pretended like he was going to shoot it anyway. Russ being Russ
I found myself staring at the statboard in disbelief late in the game
Couldn’t believe he had 12 boards, and I stared at it so long I missed his dunk.

Yep. I actually posted "can this be right?" - twice!
The quietest great stat line I have ever seen. Everyone, announcers and all were raving about how Chane owned the boards and got every rebound, all the while Chris outrebounded him by 2 and hardly got a mention. Amazing.
