We're Definitely NOT a Great Team!

Before I get into the meat of this post, let me first say that this is not an arrogant response to a fan post earlier this week arguing that we're "A Great Team". I'm a Card fan forever, I love my team, & I will stick with them regardless. But let me try to explain my position & the entitled post. We lost a game that we should have won (again!) & our Conference standings & Big Dance seeding will suffer greatly. We've pretty much sealed the deal on another 10+ loss season, assuming we don't win the BE tourney. I know that there are many variables, but once again, Free Throws would have won it for us. I know- I know...some of you are shouting right now "Cincy didn't hit squat from the line & they still won!!!!! Don't blame it FT's again!!!!" Well, we can't help what another team does from their free throw line, but we can on what we do from our own! No, FT's weren't the only thing at all. Cincy was blistering hot from 3ville, the King scored only 4 pts with no FG's to speak of...Russ must have not got the memo & instead of arriving in Cincy he was playing in "Russ"ellville, KY tonight instead (What in the world was that floopdee- doop on the inbound steal that would have cut the lead to 3?). This game was crucial. We have an improving Pitt team Sunday, a South Florida team with a better BE record than us coming next Wednesday, then we face #1/#2 'Cuse up there. Great teams win games they could/should lose. Great teams find ways to win despite the adversity and circumstance. We're a good team- sometimes really good...but we're in no way a great team. I love my Cards. I'm crushed after this loss. We should be 24- 4 at worst. But we're not... we're not a great team. We can recover from this, and we hopefully will. But this was a huge- huge loss (3 straight to Cincy), but we must regroup and get the next 2 for sure! Getting hot is important & Sunday would be the best time all year to hit a huge win streak. I love you 'Ville: Just do what it takes to close out teams you've got on the ropes.
