Anyone going to the Big East Tournament?

I'm a huge fan from the Philly area. This will be my 5th (and hopefully more the following days) Louisville game this season. I've been to Seton Hall, St John's, Pitt, and West Virginia. Yup, that's right. a 4-0 record ;) I would love to meet other fans at a local pub nearby he stadium before/ after the game. If you're travelling, I know the area fairely well. Icould possibly lend a hand in recommendations.

I am!

The alumni association usually has a get together and there are lots of Louisville fans at a bar called Stouts on W 33rd, which is really close to MSG.

Not a problem! We usually have a pep rally in the bar...

The cheerleaders & Lady Birds and the pep band all entertains before the game.

What kind of recs are you looking for?

Places to stay, eat, drink? I live in NYC and am going to the tourney again this year. Stout is where all the alumni and tons of fans go. It gets pretty packed, but it’s worth the effort since even Denny Crum and Darrell Griffith were there last year!

We are staying at the hotel across from Penn Station. Definitely looking for UofL related activities, but also . . .

any activities, places, or restaurants that you rec. You know NYC better than us, so think of this as your own personal Yelp. Much appreciated.

You should join the UL Alumni in NY group on Facebook since they send out updates on all local activities during the tourney. I’m a fan, but not an alum, and still go to their pre-games at Stout.

Not too far from Penn Station on 9th Ave and 42nd and then on north (through the west 50’s) are plenty of great restaurants to choose from. Every type of food you could ask for. Particular good ones are Room Service Thai (9th Ave, bw 47th and 48th St) and 5 Napkin Burger (yes, a chain, but really good food and some of the better and affordable bourbon options I’ve seen in the city).

Great brunch at Hell’s Kitchen (Sat/Sun) – W 39th and 9th Ave. Unlimited drinks… definitely worth it if you’ll be drinking.

Tourist stuff? Other than the Statue of Liberty, and 9/11 Memorial, if you haven’t been up before – Rockefeller Center. I think the view from the top floor here is better than the empire state building.

I could probably go on for a while… Email at mp1851@nyu.edu for more recs!

So helpful and appreciated.

I’ll might be emailing you once I start planning the weekend in more detail. Thanks again.

I'll be headed to as many BET games as I can.

I work in Manhattan regularly, and last year was able to get some very affordable tickets to a lot of the games.

CraigsList is not just for pervs. Also great for basketball tickets. So perverts and sports enthusiasts…

MSG is within walking distance of the Port Authority Bus Terminal (~ 10 blocks), so there’s no need to stay in the city if you don’t want to spend loads of money. Of the fans I met last year at the Big East Tournament, a lot of people stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, but there were many commuters, too coming in from all over the area. I bused in from my apartment in NJ for less than $10.

That’s one thing to keep an eye on. Ideally, we want Syracuse and UCONN to go out of the tournament quickly, because those fans have a short distance to travel and they packed the house last year. If they get bumped out early, that would free up a lot of tickets, making them cheap, in theory.

"So it goes."

I'm in.

UPS delivered our tickets today!!! Now I just have to survive the next week and a half of work to make it to the tournament.

Feel ya there.

I don’t know how I’m going to get through the next week and a half student teaching when all I can think of is basketball…and Kyle. And Russ. And Rick. And Gorgui. And Pey.

Best way to get tickets?

Going to be in NY for work and 3-4 of us are heading to Weds all day. What is best way to get tickets? Looking for seats in 300 or lower on sideline.
