Rutgers may be good at recruiting football players, but they pretty much suck at making money
"The athletic department spent $28.7 million more than it generated in revenue in 2011, according to a report released Wednesday by the university. Rutgers diverted $19.4 million from its general fund and $9.3 million from student fees to cover the shortfall"
Dude, even at New York prices, that's some serious coin. Who do they think they are, congress?

I had a talk with the chair of a department at the Rutgers campus last month.....
He was not a fan of the athletic department. It’s a great academic university. They’ll be lucky to keep athletics if they keep this up.
