Potential Four Guard Line-Up could pave the way for more open 3's and defense to offense via our scrappy press defense...
We could potentially use a four guard line up at various points of the game with siva kuric c.smith and blackshear along with either gorgui or the behanimal, villinova several years ago was very effective especially in the tournament with this, 3 guys on the floor at a time that stretch the defense to the pereimeter with siva directing the traffic, then leaving either gorgui or behanan in the paint to rebound or get their one-on-one touches in the paint, it would def. speed the game up and our press defense would be nasty! Hopefully we see this line-up sometime before the tourn.

Basically we would be playing like we are Missouri
who are in essence playing like they are coached by Rick Pitino. Shooting threes and pressure defense.
Mizzou
They are making it work effectively. We could rotate Behanan and Gorgui. Then Russ could create a 5 man rotation for the guards. I would love if we could do that, but Pitino wants Gorgs and Behanimal for rebounding. Our guards would shoot the hell out of it, but what Mizzou does well is crash the boards (for a small lineup) and we already have trouble with that.

Rebounds
We struggle with rebs sometimes, so if CRP did this 4-G thing, it would have to be only against certain competition. But the idea has merits for stretches during games. Like a new shift in hockey. Confuse the opponent’s D while also ramping up the pressure when we’re on D.
My two cents regarding rebounds with a 4-guard line-up
Wayne is a monster on the boards for his size/position (That 6’11" wingspan helps quite a bit). I think we wouldn’t do too shabby with him and Kuric rebounding at the 3 and the 4 along with Gorgui/Chane inside. C. Smith has also been rebounding well recently (Siva, Chris, Wayne, Kyle, Gorgui/Chane as a potential line-up?)
We simply got dominated by Kevin Jones (the probable BE player of the year) last night on the boards, but still managed to pull out a win. Fix the rebounding problem and we’re golden.
not buying it
I know Dieng/Behanan did not have their best game against WVU, but I feel that our best team includes both of those guys in the lineup. Dieng is absolutely 100% necessary for our team. Even if he does not get a piece of the ball, he alters nearly every shot in the paint. Behanan just does not have the length to do this. I think a 4 G lineup with Dieng may work for very short periods of time if Behanan gets in foul trouble…but a 4 g lineup with Behanan wouldnt work.
I'd say use it in situations where they are getting killed on the glass already like they were at WVU
Best way to free up the glass is to pull defenders to the perimeter. I’d also like to see it against Syracuse’s zone that we usually shoot over, mainly cause I don’t want to see Behanan launching 3s anymore.
