Moments after watching the U of L Cards provide a text-book exhibition of defensive prowess; moments after watching those Cards hold a fairly decent College of Charleston team to a total — total — of 38 points while putting up 80 of their own, two brain-dead loons on ESPNU came on the air to quickly dispel any notion that these same Cards are a realistic Final Four threat.
In the words of the great Dave Barry, I am not making this up.
Why, you say? Why have the reached such a conclusion after an 80-38 thrashing? Because these wizards noticed that during the game U of L had only 3 blocked shots. "They lack rim defense," said one of the asylum escapees. "Without Dieng they're not the legitimate Final Four threat we thought they were at the beginning of the year."
Numbskulls. Don't they realize that Charleston couldn't get a shot for us to block? Don't they realize that Charleston had, what 127 turnovers or something like that. When you turn the other team over as often as the Cards did last night, chances are you aren't going to get a lot of blocked shots because the team doing the shootings ISN'T GETTING A LOT OF SHOTS, PERIOD.
And by the way, morons, Dieng isn't through for the year. He's coming back. Wonder what faults you'll find with the Cardinals then?
