So Im going to go out on a limb and assume you all are thinking this is another Louisville vs Connecticut comparison, its not, however I do encourage you to go sign this petition.
Alright so now that I am past that, the basketball team has once again made headlines for next years Hall of Fame tournament. FoxSports.com has reported that Louisville will be one of the headline teams in 2013. The other team being a hopeful conference foe in a couple of years, North Carolina.
As the team gets ready for their 2012 Battle 4 Atlantis trip, which to be quiet honest, I have been so pumped up since we accepted the invitation knowing that we are going to face some quality opponents. The field this year consists of Louisville, Northern Iowa, Missouri, Stanford, Memphis, VCU, Duke, and Minnesota. I suppose we should include Florida Gulf Coast, Samford, Alcorn State, and Toledo because they play in a smaller one in Florida. Out of all these teams, most of them are quality opponents and not the no name IUPUI. However for 2013 the talent isn't as stacked. The field there includes Louisville, North Carolina, Fairfield, Hartford, Richmond, Holy Cross, Hofstra, and Belmont. This tournament isn't quite as noted as the Battle 4 Atlantis, but hey I'm not complaining. I love playing great teams early on and playing a tough schedule even with the basketball conference we have (or had.)
This in my opinion gives Louisville the Royal Flush of Basketball at their finger tips. Playing these tournaments is something that Louisville should get back to doing, like maybe playing in Maui again. I know we backed out, but there has got to be another spot available down the road.
Which by the way did anybody see that ridiculous shot that Butler's Rotnei Clarke hit? Made me think of Jerry Smith, Francisco Garcia, and Reece Gaines buzzer beaters at Marquette.
Happy Thanksgiving to all and lets go out and win the Battle 4 Atlantis and beat UConn. Go Cards!
