Cardinal fans will have the opportunity to partake in a unique Louisville football-viewing experience on Saturday, as U of L's game at Pittsburgh will be shown on the jumbotron inside the KFC Yum Center.
In honor of the start of both homecoming and the 2012-13 basketball season, U of L plans to give fans the opportunity to watch Saturday's Louisville/Pittsburgh football game live on the jumbotron inside the KFC Yum Center.
It's all part of the Homecoming on Main Street block party event that U of L is throwing at the Yum Center in order to kickoff the 2012 homecoming festivities. The event is free and open to the public.
The block party begins at 11 a.m. and includes music, inflatables, face painting, a rock-climbing wall, vendor booths, games and a beer garden. Additionally, several downtown restaurants will offer specials during the event. This year's homecoming theme is "Return to the Nest."
According to U of L, the key events for the 2012 party are:
--Jumbotron at the KFC Yum Center showing the men's football away game as they face off against University of Pittsburgh, 11 a.m.
--Pep rally with athletic team representatives, U of L Marching Band, spirit squads and the Cardinal Bird, 2:30 p.m.
--Red-white men's basketball scrimmage inside the Yum Center, 4 p.m.
Tickets to the basketball scrimmage are $10 for the lower side and corner and $5 for the end zone and can be purchased through the U of L Ticket Office (502-852-5863), or through Ticketmaster online.
UPDATE: U of L would like me to pass along that by "jumbotron" they mean the outdoor video wall at the Yum Center.
