U of L will begin the 2012-13 season ranked No. 2 in both the AP and coaches' polls.
Louisville will be the No. 2 team in the county in both major polls when it takes the floor for the first time against Manhattan on Nov. 11.
It's the highest preseason AP ranking for the Cards, who garnered 20 of the available 65 first-place votes. No. 1 Indiana earned 43 votes for the top spot, while No. 3 Kentucky collected the other two.
It's the first time the three area schools have all begun a season ranked in the top 25, and the first time Indiana has been preseason No. 1 since 1979. You may remember that Louisville ultimately won the national title that year.
