Louisville Named Preseason Big East Favorite, Siva Preseason Player Of The Year

The Big East coaches have voted Louisville as the league's near-unanimous favorite for the 2012-13 season, and Peyton Siva as the conference's Most Valuable Player.

Big East coaches followed the trend set by the media yesterday and voted Louisville as the league's favorite in their preseason poll.

The Cards nabbed 14 of a possible 15 first-place votes, with Notre Dame receiving the other top spot nod. U of L was joined in the league's preseason top five by Syracuse, the Fighting Irish, Cincinnati and Georgetown.

Louisville also earned top billing in terms of individual honors, where senior point guard Peyton Siva was voted the league's Preseason Player of the Year. He is the first Cardinal to earn the award since U of L joined the Big East in 2005.

Siva is joined on the league's first team by junior center Gorgui Dieng, while sophomore forward Chane Behanan picked up an honorable mention nod. 2012-13
