This is a stat that everyone is somewhat aware of, but I just wanted to take a closer look at that statistics. Listed below are the number of undefeated teams, number of teams total in the conference, and percentage of the conference that is undefeated. Let's have a look:
MAC – 1-13 – 8%
Big 12 – 1-10 – 10%
PAC-12 – 2-12 – 17%
SEC – 3-14 – 22%
ACC – 0-12 – 0% (One Loss Teams – 2-12 – 17%)
Big East – 3-8 – 38%
Every Other Conference -- 0%
*Notre Dame is undefeated as Independent, Ohio State not Bowl Eligible.
I know there is a long way to go, and only one team per conference can possibly end up undefeated, but halfway through the season, The Big East has the most undefeated teams (tie with SEC) and highest percentage of teams undefeated at this point. That’s pretty impressive, and all three teams really look pretty solid. I’d say the Big East is easily the most underrated conference in the nation.
