U of Ls guards resemble the 1997 NCAA champs Arizona/ after winning the BET this team and our guards are looking more and more like this team.
In 1997 Arizona beat the University of Kentucky in the national championship. Arizona was coached by veteran coach Lute Olsen and UK was being coach by none other than Rick Pitino. Arizona a team that was upset and ousted from the NCAA tournament a couple years before recovered from an embarrassing loss to go on to win the national title a couple years later against a heavily favored UK team. That Arizona team flew under the radar in 1997 and entered the tournament with a number 4 seed 25-9 record. This team got hot at the end of the year . They were lead by two lightening fast guards, future NBA star Mike Bibby and Miles Simon. I remember watching those guys run circles around Rick Pitino;s press. They showed up in a big way that year in the tournament, Bibby and Simon always seemed to be one step faster than any other player on the court.
I see the same qualities in Louisville's guards Peyton Siva and Russ Smith. When they are playing at the top of their game both Siva and Russ could steal a game from anybody literally. We got a taste of how they could play when they are clicking Saturday against Pittsburg. That 1997 team had several quality role players and was lead by two scrappy and fast guards that stole the game away from a heavily favored UK team. Ironically 15 years later Pitino is coaching a similar styled set of guards that flying under the radar. A team looking like they could beat anybody when playing well but are probably going to acumalate a couple more loses. Still with the leadership of two talented guards Siva and Russ and along with the rest of team playing well before the NCAA tournament Louisville is prime to steal a championship away 2012. Just like Mike Bibby and Miles Simon did in 1997 national title game against Kentucky.

I did, but then again, according to Quantum Physics, Time is a circle...
…therefore he already said what he said and so it can be predicted that he would say it again. So which one of you is the quantum physicist?
"We are all agreed that your theory is crazy.
The question that divides us is whether it is crazy enough to have a chance of being correct."
gotta love those physicists.
Love it. Keep the optimistic posts coming!

OK hold UP
I love me some Siva/Smith but we’ve won one game against a bad PITT team and were still 3-4 in the BE. Calm down. Hope your right but a little difference is Sivacompared 2 Bibby is both quick good guards but Bibby had more size and could shoot the lights out of it and could create his own shot. Sorry but Siva does not have the same offensive game as Bibby not close. Now Smith and Miles are similar in ways because they create of the dribble and score with Smith being alot quicker on the bounce than Miles. One other thing is 97Arizona also had Jason Terry. Reason AZ won that game: Miles was red hot all tournament and Mike Bibby and Jason Terry are still playing in the league now. I’m just worried about the VIlle making the tournament at this point.
Love the optimistic outlook and you should be commended
for your enthusiasm. Don’t necessarily agree with you on all points, but I’d sure like for you to be proven right!
Like the positive turn to some of these posts
after a win. All is not lost Card fans. We’re on our way back! Go Cards!
so does that mean kuric is comparable to jason terry?
I kind of see it
Yes. And, Kyle needs to act like he's putting a crown on his head after making a three.
So much better than the jet. So much better than discount double check, too.
Stout Out!
Stats from the title game:
Simon – 8 of 18, 30 points (14 of 17 FT)
Bibby – 5 of 12, 19 points (6 of 6 FT); 8 turnovers
1 personal foul each.

um the 1997 Arizona title team featured
Michael Dickerson more than it did Jason Terry. If I can recall, Jason Terry wouldn’t become a star until a year later. Dickerson was a 2-time All-American.
