Invading the Peterson Event Center injured...figured I'd try to fit in with our team.
So I got tickets to the UofL @ Pitt game for Christmas. I live near Pittsburgh and ever since I saw this game on the schedule, I knew I had to go. Unfortunately, I shattered my leg in a 4 wheeler accident a few weeks ago. Let me just say, this is NOT about to stop me from going to the game.
I do have a tough decision to make though...Wheelchair or crutches? There are pros & cons to each, but after weighing them I still haven't decided and the game is only days away.
If I go in a wheelchair I'd imagine I'd catch less slack for being one of surely very few Card fans in attendance. Who's gonna shout obscenities at a guy in a wheelchair?...unless you're at a WVU game. Pitt is known for having a brutal student section which takes up about half the arena. Another pro is that I could be double-fisting all night in a wheelchair. A con is that I wouldn't be able to sit in my seats which are pretty good, but I'd be stuck in the handicap section & I'm not sure where that is.
If I'm on crutches I'll have to have a friend carry my drink. Also, this increases my chances of falling down drunk by approximately 100%. A big pro of going on crutches is I can sit in my quite expensive seats. I've never sat in the lower level at any of the games I've ever attended so I was kinda looking forward to that.
What do my fellow Chronicleoids think?

Wheelchair
I don’t know where the handicap section is either, but I can’t imagine them putting the cripples in a bad section. Your seats may even be better. I suggest you call the information desk and inquire about it.
Aside from that, it should be safer for your healing leg in a wheelchair. People will probably give you more space.

I went crutches, but only because I hate attention.

just a reminder.....
The Pete doors not serve alcohol so double fisting or having your friend carry your drink means coke. I will be there proudly wearing red. Just make sure you drink before hand.

This moves the needle towards crutches, but only if the wheelchair seating is worse than your ticket seating.
Also, consider researching possibility of selling/trading your expensive tickets for upper level tickets, sit in the wheelchair space, and pocket some cash.
Stout Out!
This is a great idea.
But I would also ask to make sure there are not multiple wheelchair spaces based on your tickets.
I just found this out this morning
Very disappointed.

Crutches
If you can manage it, and it sounds like you can, don’t let a major leg injury keep you down. Own it.
yeah I think I've decided
After finding out there is no alcohol allowed in the arena combined with the fact that I got drunk last night on crutches with no problems….crutches it is!

Sorry about your leg. I have one question.
Were you wearing a Louisville jersey at the time?

LOL
No, but I’m basically always wearing UofL “gear” so I’m sure one of my many layers was UofL attire.
