Louisville vs Marquette..... SMH

Ugh I thouhgt this was going to be a great day when we start off up 18-2. First off Peyton Siva and Chane Behanan I really like you guys, but when you shoot about 19% from the three point line an teams are leaving you wide open don't shoot the ball. Listen I get it were going to lose some games on the road, but when your up 18-2 you have to close the deal. After the 18-2 start Louisville then lost to Marquette 72-45! That is a joke that is pretty much providence all over again if you take out the first 6 mmiutes. That for one shows Rick didn't make adjustments and two the guys played awful. Peyton Siva right now is awful! I mean AWFUL! Peyton Siva is probably my favorite player on the team but offensively is completely useless. The deffense is backing up 5 feet taking away his driving lane so he either drives into lane an gets doubled an has nowhere to go or he shoots the shot and misses it. The only bright spot is Chane Behanan I don't understand why he doesn't get the ball more down in the post he got a lot of rebounds today and made some really nice moves on offense. The main issue I have with this team is Rick Pitino and his coaching. When you start off 18-2 by running and getting wide open 3's why stop? Last time I checked it was still legal to run after a make or off a rebound. Also the weird substitions? Putting in Nunez in after not playing him against Depaul, Having Swop play a lot after hardly playing against Depaul it doesn't make sense. The 2-3 zone was the worst the defense was getting picked apart over and over again for wide open threes and he wouldn't switch to man. The Cards play Pitt on saturday they are 0-5 in conference that is an absoulete must win. Get on Da Train and Go Cards!

Love that the last two posts are from the same person.

First one talking about how the players only meeting helped and things turned around Saturday and how beating a good Marquette team on the road would be big. The second one saying that nothing’s changed and that we’re still terrible.

Grow up.

Louisville

Oh I get it if you make an opinion you have to stick with it forever? Fans have a right to change there opinions if you read my fanpost I said the team is fine now but we still have away to go. I stand by that the team chemistry looks better but the excecution is not simple as that.

Go Cards!

we can’t shoot on a consistent basis. there’s the problem right there.

the defense is worse when we haven’t shot well. and as a compound effect our guys get down on themselves which leads to frustrations and more shots not falling.

i’m worried less about the defense than i am about the long and expected scoring drought. there have been several 3-4 minute scoring droughts in every game this year.

If you don’t like it don’t read it pretty simple.

This is like the one guy in a high class neighborhood with the poorly maintained house, rusted old cars, and 10 foot garbage piles in his front yard telling his neighbors “If you don’t like it, don’t look at it.”

You know what happens in the real world, Clay? Those neighborhoods have community rules and your ass gets evicted. If only SBN were as progressive as gated neighborhoods.

below ground in burrows. Naked mole rat colonies can span two to three miles in cumulative length. Their burrows are completely dark, very warm, and contain limited oxygen.

I liked what I saw today

I agree with some of what OP says, but I really dislike the way it was said. Overall, It was a vast improvement over the ND and Providence games.

Everybody hustled tonight and rebounded relatively well. Our real problem is turnovers. And it’s definitely not just Peyton, so I don’t really know where your animosity towards him is coming from. He needs to step up offensively at least a little, but really everyone needs to protect the ball better. The other big problem is our perimeter D. We just do not close out when playing that zone and once MU got going, they were draining threes in the second half. We improve those two facets and we win the games we should from here on out. We do those things and the offense will follow.

It would also be really nice if we could get SVT healthy or Price capable enough to spell Gorgui and Chane for at least 5 minutes per game. When they go out, we are a totally different team in the paint. That’s been our only strength this season, but we can’t depend on a freshman and a foul-prone sophomore to play 40 minutes/game.

The Problem this time wasnt the players (not completely)

I’m deff going to post something. I had to take care of stuff yesterday and was a little too upset yesterday. I dont think this one is all or even half on the players. I’d say about 70% of this game’s loss was on Rick’s shoulders. For one up 18-2 everyone new like all great teams Marquette was going to make a run. But how fast it came about was beyond me. Should have deff gotten out off the 2-3 zone. should have went man after about the fourth three pointer they made. Or atleast switched it up. They had the zone figured out. We should have thrown something else at them to make them work a little bit harder for shots. When the game slowed down. Running 80 people of screens was the most retarded thing to keep doing. Dump the ball down to Gorgi and Chane. Let them go to work for that game atleast it was working and even if they didnt put the ball up the D was sagging enough to get open shot for everyone else

Ugh, I thought this was going to be a great day when we got off to an 18-2 start. After the 18-2 start, Louisville then lost to Marquette 72-45! That looks like Providence all over again if you take out the first 6 minutes. Listen I get it were going to lose some games on the road, but when you’re up 18-2 you have to close the deal. To me that shows (1) Rick didn’t make adjustments, and (2) the guys played awful.

Peyton Siva right now is playing awful! I mean AWFUL! Peyton Siva is probably my favorite player on the team but offensively is really struggling. Defenders are playing 5 feet off Siva on the perimeter, taking away his driving lanes. Then when Siva drives into the lane he gets doubled and has nowhere to go, or he shoots the shot and misses it.

For guys like Peyton Siva and Chane Behanan—who I really like—when you are shooting about 20% from the three point line, and teams are leaving you wide open, don’t shoot the ball. Still, the only bright spot I saw was Chane Behanan. I don’t understand why he doesn’t get the ball more down in the post. He got a lot of rebounds today and made some really nice moves on offense. I think he needs more touches.

The main issue I have with this team is Rick Pitino and his coaching. When you start off 18-2 by running and getting wide open 3’s why stop? Last time I checked it was still legal to run after a make or off a rebound. Also, I find his substitution patterns weird. Putting in Nunez after not playing him against DePaul, having Swop play a lot after hardly playing against DePaul—it doesn’t make sense to me. Then there was our 2-3 zone. It looked bad again. The defense was getting picked apart repeatedly for wide open threes, and Pitino wouldn’t switch to man.

The Cards play Pitt on Saturday. Pitt is 0-5 in conference. This is an absolute must win game for the Cards.
