who watched the game???
i missed it was at my wifes suprise baby shower from everything ive read it seems as though russ is back to playing like himself and chris had a good game but one question did we look ok. Was it just that Depaul likes play
fast. And from every stat ive seen it looks like peyton had another bad game. i hope that we really have got it together. I would love to see us look good when we play Marquette.

Much Better...
But it got a little too close for comfort between the under 8 & under 4 time out’s in the 2nd half. Playing without Kyle was odd to see. It’s a MUCH NEEDED WIN for us and I hope that this will be the turning point. We need to pull the upset in Marquette on Big Monday! Congrats on expecting a baby & hope you wife’s shower was fun! Best wishes to you all & the ’Ville Cards!
Deing was a monster today...
He and Russ filled the stat sheet. CS5 looked real good too. Ware-wow that kid has some serious potential.
Overall, I’d say there was 80-90% more energy today compared to Providence. They shared the ball, looked for one another and played a pretty damn good game. Hope this is "turning the corner"!
Congrats on the baby, GO CARDS!
The box score doesn't tell the whole story.
Siva turned the ball over- a lot. But he played 40 minutes, staying out of foul trouble, and playing tremendous defense. DePaul made some DEEP threes but overall UofL’s defense was stingy and Russ was Russelin real hard. Ware looked better at the three than at point guard so you may see him playing there a lot more.
very true
Siva did better than it looked in the box score. Also according to the box score Zach Price only played 2 min, it seemed like he was in there for a good chunk of the first half (i would have guessed at least 6-8 min) and he had a great hustle play resulting in the jump ball. i also though Ware looked explosive off the dribble and slashing to the basket.

Kevin Ware
Had his best game so far with some good drives to the basket and some good defensive plays.

Ware needs more opportunities
to dribble- drive to the basket. Just doesn’t need to play in front of KK. Put KK at the 4.
So it sounds like we looked alright
Looked like we seen a lot out of ware and seems as though the players are starting to trust each other a bit more. Thanks everyone for the congrats it was fun.,. i would have taped the game but it didnt come one up here so i wanted to know how we looked sounds like the players meeting helped
It was street ball fun...but not too serious bball
that we will get at Marquette, and then we see what the team mtg truly accomplished…
I think what looked the best...
was our defense, yes we played some zone, but our zone had communication and useful help. Best of all, we closed out on the perimeter shots pretty well, yes they hit some 3s, but they were all relatively contested and some were 4-5ft beyond the arc which in my opinion is a 3 we can live with.
I think DePaul’s style of a fast paced game worked well for us, and I think we may have more trouble in the half court offensively still. But, if our defense plays the way they did tonight, we should have the fast break points off turnovers which always seem to ignite strong runs for us.
Agree with this
And I was pleased with our effort and overall execution. Was a little disappointed in our any unforced turnovers, especially when we were running. It’s interesting to note that while Rick said we would be a much faster team this year, this has clearly not been the case. And it shows. Peyton’s foot injury may be part of the problem, but just looks like they are not really comfortable going very fast and last night seemed to confirm that.

I think the lack of practice time
Is to blame for them not looking incredibly smooth on the transition play. Having that many people injured and unable to practice makes creating chemistry difficult, and the fast break transition play is really just skill and chemistry
Did Pitino say that this year?
I remember the Loyola-Marymount comment before last season but don’t remember him repeating the sentiment this season.

Wasn't it this year when he said they only had 3 seconds to get the ball over mid court, etc.?
Might be wrong here but I thought this was kind of prior to the Bahamas trip time frame.

But my point is that we have not particularly good on the break and maybe Siva's foot problem is part of the reason.
We seem to be just a step behind forcing the action. It is striking to me how much faster and quicker Russ is with the ball. It was very obvious when they were both in the game together.
Also, did you notice how often Siva, when faced with the double team bringing the ball down court, doubled back? Russ on the other hand, just split the defends and blew by them with ease. Seems like Peyton used to do that but nor now. Again, I wonder if that foot injury is not slowing him down.

Many teams are deliberately slowing the pace down but yes I agree Siva's play (injury?) plays a role too
As mentioned in the preview post, DePaul’s coach has intentionally sped up their pace this season in conference play—by 10+ possessions per game compared to last season—which is why I wasn’t surprised to see Louisville run away with this one and see improvement in excuting transition plays. DePaul’s roster + tempo/defensive scheme is one that UofL should beat by double digits 9 times out of ten. The real “are we ‘back’?” test will be Marquette on the road Monday.

I was there.
The loudest the crowd got the whole game was when Siva dunked. That was pretty cool, I’m sure he needs the fan support. His game was better overall but still some mistakes.
Seriously? You missed Depaul day?
No stream from your wireless provider? No tv stashed in a broom closet away from the onesie and diaper gift giving? I consider myself a pretty damn good dad. My daughter is the first one to point out a UK flag and boo a car in a heart beat and she won’t let me miss a Cards game on her account no matter what! Get your sh*! together man, don’t ever miss Depaul day again. (Seriously though, just messing with you. Congrats on the new addition to your family)
