And right as I post this, I get word that Gorgui has been spotted in a neck brace
This is the ultimate DePaul Day test.

So is that why Price is starting?
If that was true too?

Plan right now is to start Zach Price.

Reason? Obviously neck related?
Weird landing on a fall? Elbow to the head? Running into a door frame?

It just got real
Really, really, real.

I will now be impressed with a win.....
Wasnt too optimistic about this one with a full lineup
despite rutherford’s depaul madness
If we sacrifice the gnome before tip-off
Then karma is on our side, right? RIGHT?!
Who hasn't missed a game yet due to injury?
Chris, Chane, Russ, Ware? Did Swop start the season?

You sound much more definite the second time.

Apparently Dieng didn't practice the last two days
Not sure why that wasn’t mentioned. It’s not like people weren’t going to notice him WEARING A NECK BRACE.
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 14, 2012 3:28 PM EST reply actions
Seriously? Pitino didn't feel the need to mention it?
Just let all the fans find out 30 minutes before the game? Trying to keep Depaul off balance? I’m tired of Pitino-speak.
by CardinalDude on Jan 14, 2012 3:30 PM EST up reply actions
I actually don't have a problem with it
NBA and NFL coaches do this all the time. Get the opponent game-planning for one thing, then they’re facing something different at the last minute.
by BostonCardFan on Jan 14, 2012 3:57 PM EST up reply actions
But honestly why does it matter that it wasn't mentioned?
I’ve been just as critical of Pitino lately as most of you, but I think we’re really reaching here on this one.

Angel and Zach should play plenty now…

Hopefully the lineup is:
pg- siva/ware
sg- russ/angel
sf- chris/angel
pf- Behanan/rak city
c- zach price/behanan
Good news is Gorgui is warming up
Might play.
by Mike Rutherford on Jan 14, 2012 3:31 PM EST reply actions
Sounds like it's a game time decision based on warm ups.
If he was walking around in a brace but warming up now.

Hope so
I’m sure he’s fine…or maybe he’s out for two weeks. Or maybe he’ll put up 20 and 10. I have no idea what to believe anymore.

Best Depaul Day Ever?
I’ve been in Honolulu all week on a high-pressure work-related trip. All that ended last night. I woke up this morning, hiked to the top of Diamondhead mountain, went to China Town and bought a bobble head President Obama wearing a Hawaiian shirt and playing a ukulele for $6.99 (if you knew me personally, you’d know there’s nothing funnier to me than a bobble head of the leader of the free world doing something stupid like playing a goddamn miniature guitar. Now that the game’s started, I’m going to try to find an bar on the beach that has the game on, so I can drink about a dozen Primos(an awesome Hawaiian beer) and have lunch. If I can’t find one. Fuck it, its Depaul. I’ll go to Waikiki beach, get drunk on some ridiculous drink a man can’t drink anywhere but the beach, and watch beautiful women walk by. Thank god for Depaul day.

It's the Iverson theory
Draws enough attention that his teammates should have easy offensive rebounds if he misses – like an assist.

Keep shooting. This team can’t rely on waiting for the most high percentage shot because we make them at a rate lower than the average team. It’s like the old joke about the business that loses money on every individual product they sell – they make it up on volume!

Not impressed with Price's D, but the hustle is very promising.
Once he knows where to be, he’ll be very serviceable.
Ware showing flashes of awesome, definitely looks more comfortable at the 2 and 3.
Russ is being Russ. And we will take it.
Siva having another rough day. I hope he can have even just a spurt of greatness in this half.

"Free throws don't win and lose games." -John Calipari
I think the next BB rule change/emphasis should be on calling more charges
The missed charge call has to be the most frequently missed foul in the game. And it’s not just a missed call, but it penalizes the other guy, instead. It makes guys want to play less defense. Denny Crum made a great point on his radio show that the rule is not that the defender has to be motionless, he just has to give the offensive player time to avoid him. The O player is supposed to be under control enough to avoid the contact.

He has some Samardo in him. He has to dunk the ball when he’s open underneath or he shoots <50%
Not until he stops with the two hand dribble.
Gives the d a chance to set their feet and contest the feet. JV coaches will tell you if you catch it high, keep it high and put it up right away.

as a defense, you want to force
very deep 3s and contested outside shots… DePaul has just happened to make 6 or 7 of them today.. they’re not high% shots, nor is it a sustainable approach
Yes, but
Teams always do this against us.. There are 4=5 games a year in which opposing teams just cannot miss these impossible threes, regardless of how good they usually are at hitting them.
Threes
With guys hands in the face. We never make those, but other teams have to shoot 80% on that shot against us.

Anyone else really scared of the Pitt game?
I still feel like it’s a really tough win to get, yet a loss would be devastating to our resume. I admit, I haven’t seen them play yet, so maybe they are a glorified HS team this year
At this point,
