Let them play
Note....I dont care if these points have been made 24 times in 24 hours. I dont have time to read everything on this site except the headlines but I do have an opinion.
Wayne Blackshear is healthy enough to practice. He should see the court against Depaul. Why not? The Pitino game is too complicated? Puh-lease. Its just basketball. If Lebron or Kobe were now eligible, wouldnt you just try them? Blackshear isnt that quality but we need players.
Why is it taking weeks with Ware? 1/2 a season with Nunez? Well. In Nunez case, its because he never sees the floor. There were games where he should have seen more time and did not. Now we need him and Rick says that he isnt ready. Its the coaches job to get all players ready. Not just a select few.
Its frustrating watching a kid playing against UK that has 4 practices under his belt and should actually be a high school senior. He is thrown out there to just do what he can and its working because the talent shines through and he is allowed to play. My guess is that if he were at UL, he would be told to lose 30 lbs before he could play.
Frustrating.
Go Cards. Depaul Sucks. Uk Sucks more.

So you're comparing Price/Nunez/Ware to Davis/Gilchrist/Wiltjer/Teague?
Behanan’s started nearly every game this season & Blackshear seriously injured both shoulders. No team has the depth of elite freshmen like UK.

No, I believe he's comparing them to Jarnell Stokes of UT.
Who scored 9 pts. in 17 min. against UK after having been on campus for a week.

Oh, you mean the 5-star 6-8 225 forward who was ranked 11th in the 2012 class?
C’mon. He does not compare to Price/Nunez/Ware. Behanan & Blackshear are the only 2 freshman that come close to Stokes’ talent and Behanan’s been starting nearly every game.

Just using Stokes as an example
The Stokes kid was only in a few practices and is unusually young for a freshman, yet the coach gets him in there quickly. Why wasnt Nunez playing in November and December….or at the very least, just after Marra went down? I can see holding Price back if you think Buckles can play the 5 (debatable) but we need a shooter and one was not given the opportunity to develop.
Blackshear is supposed to be the most talented player in the class so he is our “stokes” and letting him take weeks to get ready is a mistake (IMHO). I could care less what he was ranked vs Stokes or the UK freshmen. The point is that he is the highest rated on OUR TEAM so get him started on his development even if he’s fat. Hell. Look at Stokes. I gurantee you that you would hear CRP call him overweight and that he needed to lose 20 lbs. ESPN called him a difference maker.

I've never heard Pitino say that about freshman Chane Behanan, who's essentially started from day one
There are other legit gripes against Pitino one could argue, this one seems trivial.
Also, Blackshear is returning from consecutive shoulder injuries, both of which may have been caused in part by returning to full contact ball too early. Either way, there’s typically a mental aspect involved with this type of recovery as well. Not an ideal situation where you want to see young talent rush back onto the court.

Good Point
I respect that Blackshear is coming off injury and shouldnt be rushed but if practices are as hard as we hear they are, couldnt he get at least a few minutes in a game to knock the nerves off? I just dont understand the hesitance to get these kids going.
And the Nunez part is even more strange because there were a few blowouts where he could have played more.

Stokes:11
Ware: about 80th
Blackshear: 26th
Behanan:27th
Price: 67
Nunez: UNR
Remember the Beef Bowl!
it would seem learning Martin's system is a no brainer compared to CRP's
Let’s see. Four days, one and a half years. Hmmmmmm.
You beat me
To this post. I seen Stokes for UT getting a good amount of tune today. Just turned 18 last week. No reason why Blackshear can’t get minutes today…..and more than 4 minutes

All your whining about playing time for Blackshear is academic.
By your own admission you don’t have time to read everything on here about the Cards, so you probably missed CRP’s news conference where he very clearly said Blackshear was cleared to return to practice, but the doctors have not cleared him to play in a game yet.
And the Card team you said sucked just covered the spread against DePaul inspite of missing our leading scorer in KK and Gorgui having a sore enough neck to require wearing a neck brace when not in the game.
I get so tired of all the negativity and people running down our team or wanting CRP fired because of a few losses and less than stellar play. I suppose the same people think Roy Williams and Tom Izzo should be fired. Puh-leaze.
Go Cards!
