I don't get it
I read CL Brown’s piece, something Rick didn’t do, and I don’t understand why he was so unhappy. I thought Rick would like the fans to know he works his teams hard. I didn’t take Preston’s comments as negative either. I thought he was telling us what we already knew. Pitino seemed like he came looking for s crum and when one didn’t develop, he wanted to make sure everyone knew he was still fiesty and wanting to win. Bizarre.
Also
How does that piece hurt recruiting? Just odd moment.
Because every high school player, coach and parent reads CL Brown
As does every opposing recruiter. Duh
Which is worse?
Saying Pitino practices his players hard, losing by 31 to Providence, or having just three players in the NBA?

actually 5 players
if it actually mattered which it doesn’t (Garcia, Samuels, Clark, Williams, Caracter) and J.R. Smith credits Rick for his NBA game, so there’s that

Sammuels did not get drafted,... was the #1 overall player as a senior, stayed 2 years, and didn't get drafted

Also, I don't think DC got drafted, adn if he did it was from UTEP. Reece Gaines did get drafted under Rick but was recruited by Denny

then say what
you mean. you said three players in the NBA.
by FrankensteinsJacket on Jan 13, 2012 4:36 PM EST up reply actions
That's not what you said.
Quote: “…having just three players in the NBA”. Of course, it sounds worse if you say there are just three players from Louisville in the NBA than if you actually say just three players from Louisville “drafted” into the NBA.
I thought I saw negativity from UK fans during Billy Clyde’s second year. It doesn’t compare to the carrying-on from Louisville fans in the past two weeks, though, even though UK started its season by losing to Gardner-Webb and then got thrashed by the SEC from there.
The last 14 days have been nuts, and the unrelenting negativity from the fans has been more depressing than the losses. So I’m checking out for a while. Probably a long while. Have at it, Whacker and Company.

I'll tell you what hurts recruiting....
- 4 players drafted in 11 years
- The #1 overall high school recruit staying 2 years and not getting drafted.
- 5 star recruits seeing a player like MAA Peyton Siva ride the bench his entire freshman year.
- Coaches who you recruit against being able to say, with evidence to back it up mind you, that
a. If you go there you’re not going to play very much because his system is so hard to learn
b. If you go there you’re never going to do anything right no matter how you play
c. If you go there he’s not going to be around much longer
d. If you go there you’re never going to be 100%, cue Peyton’s comments in the locker room the other day before the C.L. Brown story came out
The only thing that has hurt recruiting here in the past, or will hurt it in the future, is Rick Pitino and his methods, mouth, and unwillingness to adapt to a changing culture/ generation of kids who don’t want to be told they’re not playing well when the drop 17 points, dish out 7 assists, grab 4 rebounds, and steal the ball for you 4 times!!!!
Just own it!! Stop blaming the kids for your screwed up system that you refuse to change, stop blaming the media for piss-poor recruiting, JUST STOOOOOOP!!!!

Love it.

no doubt.
it was as much of a warning as I’ve ever seen. Although he did preface his rant by saying “I don’t get upset at people I like”. That’s one HELL of a compliment to a reporter if I’ve EVER heard one from CRP. People should remember that…

"you're paid to try and win"???????
Mother Father, you’re paid big bucks to win EASY games and try and win HUGE games. Almost cannot watch the rest of this.
GO! CARDS!
BEAT!
PURDUE!
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO BELIEVES HE DIDN'T DISS PK?
I thought he was explaining PK’s quotes, I don’t believe he ever said “that kid’s a p.o.s. for saying that”.

there was a bit of frustration in the prior post about the press conference.
people saying they didn’t understand the rant about PK.
by Justin Gingey Smith on Jan 13, 2012 4:17 PM EST up reply actions
I don't think he dissed PK either
I took issue with someone on the previous thread who was saying that. Some people just want to make everything sound as bad as they possibly can. Presumably they want the meltdown to be universal.
i agree.
preston was his example of how hard work pays off. turned a 2 star kid into someone who is getting paid to play basketball.

In other news...
CL Brown is being talked off the ledge after being called out by CRP. Damn, I would hate to have been in his shoes.
You think the other writers in the room were like
“Damn CL! You just got served by the Godfather! Beeeatch!”
CL Brown= Red from "Friday" CRP= Deebo
CL’s article= “Pop’s trippin, he want me to ask for my bike back. It’ll be like both our bike, we just keep it at my house.”
To me he just looked like
He didn’t want to be there. His attitude at the beginning was telling. He was out for blood and brought the knife out at the end. Missing Kuric is going to cost us another game. We’re NIT (Not In Tournament) bound!
Get fired up
CRP! Its about time. That crazy eyed mfer will have those boys eating nails tomorrow. We will kill depaul. We will pull out the season and go to the second weekend in the tournament! We will go to several final fours before the Dickster retires!!! GO CARDS!
