My Thoughts on the Radio Show Notes
Didnt listen to the show just looked at the notes. One thing is for sure moving Kyle to the four is a terrible idea. We would give up too much size. To be honest we already give up way too much size with a 6'6 power forward, so if you take two more inches away that means we reallt will struggle in the paint. Gorgi has played well this season. But he doesnt go with force like Tj did. (thats the one thing we will miss from him is his agression on that side of the ball) So without another dog on the boards like Chane in their i think it will do more harm to Gorgi than anything.
In my personal opinion, it might help kyle get more looks, but i think it will hurt the development of Gorgi. And speaking Chane if we move Kyle to the four waht happens to his minutes. I think we are seeing Rick do everything he can to help the offense without doing what the fans want because it would make him look foolish. And for a guy with that much pride in his work i dont see him wanting to look like that. We seen the Russ experiment,., Getting the ball on block working inside out,.and now were going to see Kyle at the four. Which now face it, it might work against Depaul. Anything could work against Depual!! (hope i didnt jinx us) But we really wont know if its really going to work until we play Marquette. But my thought on that is there will be no difference even if we do win saturday i think we will still look the same. Much like we did earlier in the season a win but i ugly win.
As for Blackshear. why would he be more ready to play coming off an injury. Or in Rick's words "He really hasnt played basketball in a year" So how and why would he be more ready to play than Nunez. That simply doesnt make any sense. So either Wayne is really good or coach is making another Telfair move.

So exactly how good is Blackshear?
I’ve never seen the guy play, other than a few minutes in one of the exhibition games. Is it possible that he enters the draft this year, Kyrie Irving style?
That's me too. Just that one look in the Bahamas exhibition.
And didn’t he throw up an air ball in that one?

Yes, you are right. Been a long time now. Did he play in the Bahamas at all? I thought he got in briefly in one game.
Just saw that he was 0 for 6, and 0 for 3 from 3 pt. in 15 minutes in the Pikeville game.

I'm wondering about Nunez
Something tells me Rick just wants him here as a practice dummy.
by cardcorefan on Jan 12, 2012 10:38 PM EST via mobile reply actions
maybe not a practice dummy
but just a player who he can get to a certain level defensivly. To be honest with as good as he is offensively i think he migh transfer. I hope not but i can see it coming. I seen a guy on the court in providence that looked ready to drop 30. But knew he wouldnt play
This is what I'm afraid the better players see when they see Rick's "system". Not a good fit for todays elite athletes.

Better players would be more ready defensively
Chane is already play 20+ minutes a game. Honestly, I think there is a reason that Nunez was described as a ‘sleeper’ and a ‘riser’. He’s got an incredible frame and ability to shoot, but there were major holes in his high school game.
He dropped from a TOP 20 player to fringe top 250.
He definitely wasn’t a riser, but the talent is there…
But the scouts often said that there was a drive missing in him. He only played school ball and nothing else, and his ranking suffored horribly because of it. He was on the front page of ESPN a few times before he fell!
Remember the Beef Bowl!
I just don't understand
how everyone thinks they know better than the coaches. I haven’t seen enough of Nunez to know if he’s ready to play or not. I know he can shoot and I know we need that badly, but if the coaches say he’s not ready, I assume it’s because he is a huge liability on the defensive end and I really don’t have a reason to assume they are lying because they don’t want to look foolish in front of the stands. That seems like a preposterous conclusion.
That being said, I would love to see more of Nunez and maybe even Price. Hopefully, Angel’s defense will improve in practice and he’ll start to get some PT. In fact, I believe we will. I’m sure he would be an asset on the offensive end. GO CARDS!!
By the way, I’ve never cared for Coach Pitino, but he’s the coach of my team, so I’m going to support him regardless of what a jackass he may or may not be.
It's not the they think they know better.
It’s just that Ware started getting minutes inmediatly when you know he doesn’t know the system yet. Nunez has been there since day one, he’s been to the Bahamas, he’s practiced, and he can hit some shots. For a coach that checks guys in and out like a hockey team, you’d think he could get him in on offense for a minute or two.

good catch on the inconsistency
But my guess is defense has something to do with it.
with as much as were giving up at that position anyway
shouldnt matter we shld be playing who can put the ball in the basket
Just Sayin
In previous post i say that i’m not a hall of fame coach but i do know that i know basketball i played long enough and watched long enough. And i know for a fact what this team is missing. Which is a dominant player. A player that creates for himself as well as for his teammates Like Reece Gaines, T-Will, Francisco, etc. Thats really is what Rick’s system is built for. A guy who can easily create is own shot deep in the shot clock. A legitiment scoring treat that teams have to worry about that one player opens things up for Kyle and Chris to be the players they are and be good at it. With the way our guards play Defense I dont think Angel seeing 10-15 minutes would hurt the D. And with how many points are being scored by players playing 1-3 it shouldnt matter any way. Look up that stat. Most every team we’ve played thats where the big numbers are coming from
That would be an NBA talent player and it's been a long time since we have had that
And please don’t anyone contradict with Samardo. Totally different animal.
ur absolutely right hoping that Blackshear is that guy
i’m assuming so since he gets to come back and play after being off a year lol
Stands = Fans
in my previous post. That was a pretty stupid mistake.
By the way, no disrespect jb, I agree that moving Kyle to the 4 is probably not going to be what this team needs.
I think Kyle to the 4 can work. It did last year. And it takes away time from Buckles, who has been a complete liability
Yes, that is Mike Marra.

Kyle to the 4
will only give Him more looks. But wats going to happen is the same thing that has happened to us before hand. And on top of that we will get crushed on the glass. And with Gorgi being the only big man in that line up means he’s going to be fighting for position that much more and probably end up still in foul trouble
Agree about Buckles. I really thought he would be a real game changer for us. Has not proved to be the case.
It looks to me like he tries to do something big, the minute he gets in the game, instead of letting the game come to him. And that has resulted in missed shots, early fouls, and turnovers. Rak has lots of ability. Need for him to start playing up to his potential. That would be a big help in many ways:
1. would free up Gorgui a little down low
2. would help open up some wing 3’s (if Rak will pass it to them)
3. would improve our offensive rebounding
by Carolina Cardinal on Jan 13, 2012 6:58 AM EST up reply actions
And TJ did not rebound with force.
Not sure what you were talking about there
Yes, that is Mike Marra.
by TheRealSlimShady on Jan 13, 2012 1:53 AM EST reply actions
Never said he rebounded with force
said he went up with force. He had a unique understanding of how to give the passer a good easy lane to get it to him when they drove and when they gave it to him he went up hard. And deff tried to tear the rim down each time. Gorgi doesnt do that with him going up as soft as he does most times he isnt going to draw alot of fouls on defenders. That is what i was saying
Amen to that. He was the worst rebounding 6'10" guy I ever seen.
by Carolina Cardinal on Jan 13, 2012 6:59 AM EST up reply actions
Funny that you say that.
Because I was thinking about how if you put Gorgs and Samardo together, you would almost have the perfect big man. Just throw in that Okur shooting and you would be set.
Samardo’s offense
Samardo’s dominance and ability to take over a game
Gorgui’s defense and shot blockings
Samardo’s ability to stay out of foul trouble
Gorgui’s toughness
Remember the Beef Bowl!
No way
There is no way aaronulrich is he going to nba this year. I dont think he can come back this year and make a big impact. also chane is just to small to handle the heavy weights. I am so sick of losing to uk. Look at our talent coming out of hs. We should be a unbelievable team. Coach crp has degraded this team and destroyed thre confidence. I would like to see what coach cheatapari could do with this team! Its gonna get worse, mark it down.
Someone already brought this up
But wasn’t it just last year, that a large portion of us thought Pitino got screwed by not getting National coach of the year.
Man, I sound like a Pitino apologist and I’m really not, I swear I don’t like the guy. However, the middle of the season, when the team is down, is a time to support the program as a whole and that includes Coach P.
