OK So I WAS THERE

Ok i was there. And maybe i should have known something was up. Maybe it was the shocker of the new england natives actually being nice. Everyone complimented my kids being cute in their cards outfits. With the night begging so well i thought it was going to be a good night for us. Little did i know that the greatest thing i would get out of this night was to see Mike Marra and his family and talk to his brother about Tats.

Ok i'm not sure what the announcers saw but since i was right there and felt like if i streched my hand close enough i cld touch a player i will tell you guys what i saw. You could tell our energy and mood wasnt great just watching warm ups. Siva sad face everytime he missed a jump shot. Everyone else just seemed like they had the attitude like we're here so i guess we gotta play. Angel Nunez warmed up as if he knew that he wasnt going to get in so this was his time to shine. I seen hit a couple nice crossvers and drain three over and over. And if i wasnt sure before i'm deff sure now that he should have been playing all season long and by now shld've established hisself as the person to run the offense trough. much like francisco but we will get to that later.

First thing that i beleive is wrong with the team is confidence/leadership. Chalie Strong made it evident that our football was lacking leadership that was the reason for us not maintaining leads or us not having players in teh right spots or getting called for silly penealties. I beleive the same thing is hppening here. We dont have that guy to say hey follow me its going to be ok!!! We dont have that guy who walks the walk and talks the talk. Thtats why guys point instead of talking on the court. Thats why u see guys not helping each other up. Thats why guys are hanging their heads. Because nobody is steeping up to say hey Siva its alright keep shoot you'll be fine. Or say Rock stop dribbling so much find me and i'll get it back to you!! There is nobody demanding that respect and i also think that the new players in some ways have detoured the players taht have been here. I dont think its a tema effort. Confidence is deff lacking. Siva in warms ups and in the game just seemed like he couldnt get it right and when he did something wrong he didnt seemed poised. He seem down on his self or frustrated. Maybe even with his team mates but didn't look like he wanted to play. That effects the whole team. So He as a captain not having confidence or seeming as though he is not all there makes the tema look and feel like that as well.

Secondly The offense as i've said forever has a missing piece that piece is Nunez. Isat there and watched and there never seemed to be a point. With offenses of old you got it. It was no secret teams knew what we were doing then too. Its just like Alabama football you know whats coming but can you stop it!. You knew we were going to get it to the high post with Padgett or Cisco. you couldnt play off them cause they would hurt you. You double and you leave a guy open. Like dean Smith. But this tema seems to screen and pass for no reason because teams are staying home and they aren't worried about siva, or russ really. If they score 20 or 30 they say hey we can live with that because nobody else is scoring. We simply need dare i say it a "STAR" an athlete who can get his own shot that wld opentthings up for everyone kyle chris russ siva's penetration. And deing and Chane in the post. Now The down side of that is to throw Nunez in there now i think would put too much pressure on him he might not be ready for. So to me that is the a coaching mistake. He should have been playing and thrown into the rotation since blackshear was hurt.

Thirdly Our Coach. He's and Strong are the different sides of the same coin. Strong will flat out tell you. This is what it is. There is no secret about it. Not Pitino's style. Strong willl play he's best palyers at the position that we need them to win. Like maudlin playing DE or the move of Brown to Running back. Or just leaving teddy in there to play. Again not pitino. He needs to realize that this game is changing. This isnt 1987. Your five has to be able to not only compete but score and play D. So for him to have not made the necessary changes when needed throws me off. Espcially in his own words he said he knew tat this tema would not score points. And i ask you why? Is is because they dont fit the the system? Or is it because you refuse to paly the mst talented offensive line up? Because of lack of D? There has to be some sort of healthy median right? I mean you didnt red shirt the Nunez so why waste his year. If i was him i would transfer especially knowing the fans want to see me play. I just dont want to feel like i'm being lied to everytime he speaks about the team. But there has to be some sort of message to them to get them to start playing together and like a team that loves one another. Because right now i simply dont see that.

This tema will have a bright future maybe next(if all the players we have stay till then) But i think we're all tired of hearing next year. And amybe when fans stop showing up, and money goes dwn. Jurich will get into pitino's ear about it

Not feeling much better about it

I sat 3 rows behind the scorer’s table at the ND game. I witnessed a lot of the same things you mentioned in this post. Siva looks like he’s getting his teeth pulled during the game. His frustration comes out and he compounds everything by fouling or forcing a pass/shot. Chris Smith looks like he’s trying to show some leadership, however, every time he makes a mistake he gets yanked out of the game in favor of Russ Smith. He sits down and is clearly frustrated on the bench. Deing is taking himself out of the game by committing stupid fouls 10 feet from the basket, however, the last two games he’s had a couple of “phantom” foul calls. Behanan has become the second coming of Samardo in which he gets the ball down low and the offense ends there. He’s not finishing and has missed at least 10 shots point blank the last two games. Kuric is who he is. A spot up shooter. Until he decides he wants to shoot that 15 footer consistently, he isn’t going to help this team too much.

Then, there’s the obvious Kevin Ware and Russ Smith experiment. They are getting clock despite not doing the “other” things that CRP wants out of the starters. They don’t rebound, play solid D and the rest of the team is left picking up the pieces.

Finally, there’s CRP. He has to adjust to the team that he has. He can’t just keep pounding that square peg into a round hole.

yeah i feel you

i wanted to come home and post something but that just wasnt the best thing to do in my opinion. Everyone is good. I do feel as though there will be some changs i said in a earlier post that in the next 5 games we would have to see a change and we’ve yet to see that change. Coach has made some minor tweeks but not the major tweak or hasnt delivered a major message to the team to get them in the game. But there is someting going on that the players have to solve for them selves as well. Need a great leader right now. If neither of these things happen then it could be along season. May they should call a players only meeting air it out and move forward

i think

the day people dnt care about playing time points shot, and simply want to play ball and enjoy being out there with any of the other players that are out there with them i think u will see the team change for the better.

Siva sad face everytime he missed a jump shot

My heart isn’t even beating at this point, but now I’m certain it is shattered in too many pieces to ever work again.

OK, I'll call my brother

We haven’t spoken in years and he’s a total douche but if it will help, I’ll try it.

Just kidding. My brother and I are tight.

I am finding it really hard to not be in Louisville right now.

No one in Chicago knows last night even happened. Or if they do know, it was merely a curious and interested headline on ESPN. Each clueless face I see makes me feel crazier for being so devastated. CC is all I have right now to find an odd sense of comfort in this. So forgive me for all the posts.

I'm with you Windy

All I had was a bunch of drunk Friars fans staring at me as I walked out of the arena shell-shocked.

On the plus side, you’ll get to see DePaul Day II in person!

Jeepers! Where does that rank on your all-time low moments? I would have just picked a fight and let them to kick my ass like Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke.

As for depaul day II, i had just received my front row tickets three hours before yesterday’s meltdown began. Three very happy fleeting hours.

The only loss I ever remember that was more...

embarrassing and humiliating than the Providence game was the 85-51 drumming we took in Freedom Hall to UK when Eddie Sutton & the ‘Cats dissed us & slapped us around like a dog with the mange. I was actually thinking of that dreadful day as I checked the score in class Tuesday night. My stomach was sick and my mind has been dazzed…it’ll take more than 2 point win against DePaul to cure this ache. If we lose to DePaul, well, I’m done for the rest of the year. What say ye?
