Terry Rozier commits to Louisville
It may have taken a bit longer than he would have liked, but Rick Pitino has his point guard.
Shaker Heights, Ohio point guard Terry Rozier became the first member of Pitino's recruiting class of 2012 when he committed to Louisville on Sunday morning. Earlier this summer, Rozier referred to U of L as his "dream school."
"It’s really amazing for me," Rozier told The Courier-Journal. "My heart was telling me I needed to do it. I didn’t want to wait around any longer."
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound floor general also had offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Georgia and Dayton, among others.
Rozier is ranked as the 88th-best player in the country by ESPN.com, No. 112 by Rivals and is the 20th-best point guard in the class according to Scout. He was the highest ranked point guard left uncommitted in the ESPN rankings.
Rozier is the first cousin of current Louisville freshman Zach Price, and says U of L has been his favorite school ever since he watched Through the Fire, the ESPN documentary on former Cardinal commit Sebastian Telfair.
"I loved watching the movie and just started watching the team after that and really became a fan," Rozier said. "I’ve always watched them and liked them."
See? I told you that whole thing would pay off eventually.
"Being coaches by a guy like Rick Pitino and being a part of a program like that is a dream for me," Rozier added. "I really am living a dream."
I know there are already some folks who are upset Pitino couldn't land a more highly-touted point guard, but as far as following the "Louisville first" mantra, this is about as good as it gets. Kid loves U of L and was letting the world know before he was even offered a scholarship. Terry Rozier will not be a hard player to cheer for.
He's also pretty good at basketball.
Welcome to Louisville, Terry.

i wanna get chocolate wasted!!!!!
This is good news......
I honestly don’t think Peyton will be going to the NBA after this year, I know Rick’s been saying it’s going to happen; but, I think that was just to make some of those other “elite/5*” guys think there were going to be plenty of minutes availible next year.
TRZ will contribute as a freshman but, he’ll have a whole year to develop and learn from PS3 without having the burden of being “the guy” right away.

good name too
i just hope hes better at the free-throw line. i seem to remember alot of airballs from the charity stripe out of the last rozeir to play here
looked pretty smooth in that vidoe too. could end up being another diamond in the not so rough, rough. love his love for the cardinals
Am i the only person that would rather see passes then dunks
on the highlight video for point guards. I know it would be bland but i would much prefer seeing a pg run the offense, pass, and play d to crazy shots and dunks.

Great news and welcome Terry.
Still have never seen Through the Fire. Worth a watch?

i can't wait to see how much pitino beefs him up. i'm 6'14 215 and 6'1 170 is just a bit tiny for basketball imo
i wanna get chocolate wasted!!!!!
6'14 and 215
Pitino needs to beef you up too!

Did anyone notice his diverse shot selections ?
Tear drop over big man, off the glass, outside the arc; this is the first clip I’ve seen in a while that impressed me. Mostly because his shots all looked smooth regardless which shot type he was taking. Almost Wheat smooth..
Doesn’t this also mean Purvis is ruied out?
purvis=long gone
in my opinion… but, especially since duke dropped out and his newest, latest, revised, vised, and revised again list didnt include us.
Real question is garry harris, who last i heard was trying to schedule a visit here, but it fell through. Most seem to think he has been big10 bound from the beginning, but i really want him, and i hope this doesnt slam that door shut
This is our second crack at a "Rondo"...
Pitino has the one that got away now. This kid is going to develop like crazy, you can already see it. Long and lanky for his height…similar player to Jonny Flynn and Rondo. Gonna be fun to watch him. I give him until his junior year to be a star, like Peyton…but will be a major asset until then. Good get. Welcome.

A good get! Potential. Good attitude. Need one more.

Say its not true...
Im hearing Chicken Knowles has committed to Houston. If this is true it could change the current state of college football forever.
or basketball
which ever way you look at it.
Why????
Why would he commit so early?

GREAT news
I admit awhile back I was in the crowd bad mouthing Pitino for not getting top 10 type recruits (specifically when we quit on QMiller and got Nunez). Yet that was dumb thinking. You want kids who WANT to win and WANT to win for Louisville. Star rankings be damned, if a 5-star has no passion for his team and only cares about the NBA, why take them over guys like Nunez and Rozier? See last years team as guys who want to win. I love seeing us get guys like that. Welcome Terry.
