Lorenzo Mauldin gives us a scare

There was a scary moment at practice on Monday when freshman defensive end Lorenzo Mauldin injured his neck and was eventually carted off the field in an ambulance.

According to C.L. Brown, Charlie Strong accompanied Mauldin to the hospital where preliminary tests were negative. He was set to undergo more tests last night.

Mauldin, who has one of the more interesting backstories on the team (bounced around between foster and group homes for most of his life, was told just before national signing day, via fax, that South Carolina no longer had room for him), drew some attention earlier this summer with the enthusiasm he displayed on Twitter.

Given the depth at his position, there was a strong chance that Mauldin would redshirt this season even before Monday's injury. B.J. Butler, Greg Scruggs, William Savoy and Malcolm Mitchell all enter the season as defensive ends with game experience.

It sounds like this could have been much, much worse.

I'm really glad to hear the initial tests were negative.

Very thankful (but not surprised) that Charlie Strong accompanied him to the hospital. The young man doesn’t have family in town (or anywhere really) and Charlie is going to be like a father to this young man. I have a feeling Lorenzo is going to be a special player for UofL and perhaps this unfortunate incident will be used to create a firm bond between him and Coach Strong.

A fine man Coach Strong is…a fine man.

Say WHAT?

Well I am a UL fan I have posted on here plenty of times. But I am not stupid enough to believe that this season is going to be some incredible run. UK will beat the Cards I dont think HCCS has the team to beat them yet. All the people acting like they will be great this season is crazy 7th is a right on prediction. I got a waring for that post which is weak for this site.

"Well I am a UL fan I have posted on here plenty of times"

Yep. And each one of them proves you are an awful Louisville fan. In fact, I would even say you’re actually Kentucky fan. Awful would be redundant with “Kentucky fan”

Go troll somewhere else. “UL fan”

Hey now.

I didn’t declare war on you. I gave you are warning.

(Too easy indeed.)

Seriously though, I just advised you to offer “meaningful contribution” to the site. Perhaps you could expound on why you think 7th is right on prediction?

Well..

I just dont feel like the talent level is there to compete for much more as of right now, not to mention we lost a lot at several key postions with out expirenced back ups to step in. The Cards also play @UK @ UNC @ WVU @ USF @ Cincy @ UConn. That is half the season at away games which will be hard to deal with for a young team a second year coach trying to implement his system still. IDK I guess I could say we will go 12-0 but hey I jsut dont see it that way.
