DeMarcus Cousins: Still just a lovable overgrown kid who plays with intensity
Yeah, but if you watch it in slow mo, play it backwards, switch the coloring to black and white and pair it with Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night," you'll totally see Jared Swopshire knee Cousins in the back of the head first.
By the way The Dominican National team beat the "UK Legends," 106-88. Garcia led all scorers with 30 and Edgar Sosa added 29.

I watched the game
The first thing I said to my wife was how much I couldn’t stand him.
They say that nobody is perfect. Then they tell you practice makes perfect. I wish they'd make up their minds.

i dont' see what you guys are talking about
looks to me as if they were just hugging it out…hahah
i wanna get chocolate wasted!!!!!
And SOSA got the technical.
The game was live-streamed by a Lexington station and I saw the last quarter. Garcia and Sosa really looked good, but Sosa mouthed off once too often to the ref.
Addendum: Al Horford is a beast. I’d forgotten how good he is.
It's kind of funny Garcia was the one Cousins jumped.
Garcia has been a mentor to him at Sacramento. The guy’s just crazy.
I wonder what Mike Marra's brother would say about the craftsmanship
The lettering seems to fluctuate size to me – maybe that is an optical illusion, or the way he wanted it.

not really
Misunderstood? Not really. Just a couple of weeks ago on PTI Mike Wilbon said no way Cousins is misunderstood. Everyone knows he has serious behavorial issues! Just how low do you have to be to be called out on national TV by an ESPN NBA expert?
Edger is like the kid
That doesnt listen until he moves out of the house and then everything starts clicking and he realizes that mom and dad were right and he was silly for not listening more!!!!
my biased quote
i think this event blew up in UK’s face. two biggest stars were UL players who took it to what…9 NBA UK players. yeah it was just an exhibition but the fan base made it more than that from the beginning. and cal offering $5 dollar tickets tomorrow is just another sad move in the debacle of the DR vs UK Legends Summer Series

Just shows what a great coach Calipari is
He beat Denny Crum despite the fact that the latter was coaching an NBA all-star team and Cal was coaching the Dominican “amateurs.”
Alternately, if the other team won, it just goes to show how well those UK alumni were coached up during their days at UK.
So either way it goes, the UK fans can spin it as a win for their program.
"...and the present, for us, is something that we really look forward to."

so you would rather sit and laugh at UK than to go cheer on your Cars Alums for $5???

I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing...
but tomorrow night just got a lot more interesting.
I can only imagine
what is being said on the UK sites…. I’m sure it has something to do with how our lord and savior Coach Calamari was able to turn Cisco and Sosa around in order to beat the legends.
You know guys, all the UK folks I have talked to were talking about how impressed they were
with Garcia and Sosa and how they flourished in that game, Cousins and Garcia were laughing about what happened later, and you folks have a game coming to your arena tonight that lets you see a bunch of EX-UK players probably get beat again, and this time on your home floor. What exactly are you folks unhappy with?
Your guys are getting praised by UK Fans and you want to complain?

Mr. Edwards,
Could you please introduce us UofL folks to these seemingly polite and civil “UK folks” only you seem to know? No offense to you sir, but it seems you only pop up on this site from time to time to sing the high praises of your own kind. It’s a rivalry, it is what it is. Don’t expect any civility or slack from our fanbase as we certainly don’t expect it from yours.
And finally, let me say that all of us cards fans are sorry for not showering you and the UK fanbase with our sincere appreciation and thanks of your fanbase’s alleged praise. I hope you find a way to cope.

I dont expect showering......
but showing some appreciation for what your players are trying to do, intead of trying to drag the entire endeavor down should be within the realm of expectancy.

as I said below, that was more of what I expected.......
I honestly expected a headline like “UL Alums Drop 59 on UK Alums in Rupp For The Win”…..was just very surprised not to see it.

This from the guy who just wrote an article over at S.O.B. about how Rick doesn't deserve his new contract.
While giving the implication all the way through that Louisville fans were accepting mediocrity and liking it too. Please Sir, save the backhanded fodder for the UK web sites where you pretend to be unbiased.
That is all.

upset? not quite
i think people are just vindicated by his behavior….
its like watching a neighbors kid that you knew was a jack-ass growing up… then he grows up, and some how WORKS with your kid… then he STILL acts like a jack-ass, so you knew you were right all along.
cousins = jackass
garcia= our kid
Coach Cal= bad parents
thats why people are upset, because of your BAD parenting skills leading to our kid having to deal with YOUR jackass

Yeah, Cousins and Garcia were jawing back ind forth, and UK fans are going to claim
that Garcia hooked Cousins, and you guys are claiming Cousins slammed Garcia. The truth is that both happened, and the referees called the play. End of story. FIBA allows for an even more physical game than either the NCAA or the NBA, so that was not all that surprising. But if Garcia and Cousins can handle it (and since they were laughing and shaking hands after the game, I am assuming they can), does that need to be all you folks take away from this?

COME ON GREG LETS BE REAL
i know lots of UK fans and not one of them is praising garcia or sosa. Here is what i am hearing…
- Wow, what a difference a good coach makes. Coach Cal coached Sosa and Garcia to 59 points
- UK Legends partied in Vegas saturday for Cousins birthday and weren’t focused on the game
- It was an exhibition, the UK Legends weren’t trying hard (then Cousins throws Garcia round because he is just playing around…right)
- Sosa had 9 fouls
The truth is that the spin machine is being pushed to the limit. If one UK fan comes to me and simply says “Garcia and Sosa outplayed the best UK has to offer last night” I will shut up, but its not going to happen.
by Cambroni Cardinals on Aug 16, 2011 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions 6 recs
Actually Sosa had 8, but that matters not....he was left in a lot of situations that had they been real game
type situations he would have been sitting. But that doesnt take away from his playing.
Would it make you feel better if I said Garcia and Sosa coached by Calipari outplayed the best the UK Alumni had to offer last night???
I mean I am willing to compromise……..lol

Greg,
we all get that Garcia was okay with the foul. They are teammates and have learned to cope with each other. Garcia has said as much in an interview about that foul.
But it doesn’t mean that Louisville fans are going to give Cousins a pass (he’s still a Grade A asshole in our books), nor will we give a pass the .0005% of Kentucky fans who gave the foul a standing ovation. (I’m still not sure about your math here. Personal statistical samplings would lead me to believe it’s more like 20%. And that 20% of Kentucky fans are also Grade A assholes. Whether by ignorance or choice, it doesn’t matter to me.)

actually, I can live with the Cousins hatred, I dont think it will ever go away,
I just really thought you folks would be more excited about a chance to see some of your Alumni playing close to home than you would be upset about how it occurred……

Yes, Card fans should fill YUM!
for a chance to see to see a game billed as the “UK Legends Game” just because 2 former Cards are going to play. And then be rewarded tomorrow with "UK fans filled the YUM! Center because we own the city of Louisville.
I’ll save my $5 and buy some late-season UK football tickets instead.
Greg, (part 2)
We are excited to see our alumni perform well in this charity All-Star publicity stunt whatever these games are supposed to be. We are a bit too classy here at CC to make the headline "UL Alums Drop 59 on UK Alums in Rupp For The Win". We are also a bit too cheeky not to take a stab at Grade A assholes when offered the opportunity, thus the Cousin’s headline.
Personally, I think the shared tone of Louisville fans today is that we find it amusing how peculiar the behavior of UK fans were at the game last night and are today.
I must laugh that bewildered UK fans (all a part of my 20% referenced number above) were lining the exit rows, booing and sulking as the DR national team pulled away in the final few minutes last night. The fans I saw on TV were acting the same way they would have been had any other opponent had come into Rupp and beaten the home team. They boo’d every action by Sosa, Hoford and Garcia as if they still were wearing a hated rival’s jersey. They cheered a stupid, bone-headed foul by Cousins (that describes his attitude and personality to a T) with a standing ovation only because it was against a former UofL player.
Then, today that very same type of fan (again, all apart of this magic 20%) come on the blogs, message boards and internet at-large with a sudden sunny attitude that excuses “the loss” by the former Wildcats (as neatly outlined by Cambroni Cardinals above). Somehow, the fact that two former Louisville players outplayed the UK Pros All-stars Alumni can be both sulk-worthy the night of and a triumphant celebration the next day. As the internet meme says, “Oh, the ironing.”
Personally, if I still lived in Louisville, I’d go to the game. But I certainly can’t fault 83fan and cards84 for their position. Bottom line, no matter what happens we can count on this. No matter who wins, by how much, how many people do show up or do not, what colors they wear (red or blue); UK will have a “pulled out of their ass” response that somehow (however small) will attempt to “stick it to Louisville” and over-glorify any perceived accomplishment of Kentucky.

Speaking solely about the video
Kentucky fans are so stupid. Anyone who would cheer that is clearly ignorant and doesn’t respect the game. Go find something else to do and stop trying to ruin it for the real fans. On a side note, it is funny however that Garcia responded not by getting physical right back, but by dropping 30 points on the allstars and further contributing to whuppin that blue ass where it matters.

think about a UL home game....
if i saw Ellis or (lord forbid) Gourgi involved in ANYTHING like this, my first reaction would be concern, not jubilation
clearly something has be wrong to encourage that sort of behavior at a SCRIMMAGE…
didnt cousins JUST get in trouble at a NYC park game last month????… clearly he has issues that no one who employes him seems to care about at all
Does anyone know who gets the income from this game?
I mean, if UK gets all the proceeds from this game then although I love Garcia and Sosa (and Denny of course) I would just have a hard time giving my money to Lexington College. Especially if they are being allowed to use OUR state of the art facilities to do this.
I love our past players and coaches, but my allegiance is to the University and I would feel like a traitor funding the enemy…ya dig?
"It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."

nothing goes to UK.......UK was ot even allowed to be associated with it in any way
any UK personnel who participated had to sign an independent contract with the DR people, and had to do the work outside of their UK duties (not referring to coaching staff here) the only UK references to this at all were done by the UK fans
