As of this morning, via Jody Demling's twitter feed (@jdemling), Ryan Taylor has not only reclassified but is moving to the familiar settings of Hargrave Academy.
"The 6-foot-6 Taylor played for three seasons at Indianapolis Lawrence North before transferring to Western. He averaged 27.6 points, 14.2 rebounds, 4.2 blocked shots, 4.1 assists and 3.3 steals and shot 54.9 percent from the field as a senior."
I just wanted to gauge the CC community's opinion. Since his commitment as a Sophomore, he has adamantly been a Cardinal. He has wanted nothing else, or at least he has always professed his desire to be a Cardinal some day, even when Pitino recruited his sixth kid in the 2011 class, which, albeit a bit delusional, is something to be commended. And now that he's officially in the 2012 class (though this was expected for some time) he STILL claims he is and will always be a Card. His dedication and desire is admirable. The moral dilemmas with this kid have been slim to none; it's the academic/talent issues that may worry.
The reason he's reclassifying, of course, is because of academic difficulties. This, along with the fact that he is a 3 Star PF and will be in a class of one or two kids in '12, may leave room for desire among the fans. For my own part, however, I've always been a bigger fan of the recruits who wanted nothing more than to be a Cardinal. Those kids always work the hardest, they're quick learners because they respect the program/coach so much, and they usually end up being fan favorites for 4 years.
So, thoughts? Are the academic issues too much for you? Is it the national ranking? Would you rather have a one-and-done? And who is stronger one-on-one, Optimus Prime or Megatron?
