Lost in the hubbub caused by Louisville's interaction with Andrew White yesterday was the fact that the Cardinal staff also extended a scholarship offer to fellow class of 2012 small forward Marcus Hunt.
Hunt is a 6-5, 215-pound slashing wing out of Georgia who has impressed coached this summer with a drastic improvement in his perimeter game. The 4-star recruit is the 91st-best player in the country according to Rivals, and the 22nd best forward according to Scout. He is not featured in Scout's top 100 overall players.
It's interesting to see Louisville offer a player so (relatively) lightly-regarded in a class where they're only looking to take "one or two guys," especially when they're reportedly in the running for several of the class' elite prospects. Then again, according to Rivals Hunt also has an offer from Kansas, so this could be another instance where getting caught up in recruiting rankings would be foolish.
That said, am I going to point out the fact that Chicken Knowles is rated higher according to Rivals (#58) than both Andrew White (#71) and Marcus Hunt (#91)? Am I also going to point out that he can play the same position? Yes, yes I am. I actually just did. Three and four sentences ago, respectively.
Here's Marcus Hunt in action:
