Is Gabbert in the cards?

UPDATE: The Cardinals quickly rebounded after Tyler Gabbert left the program in limbo.

Louisville garnered a verbal commitment from Coffee County High School quarterback Will Gardner.

The 6-4 190-pound 3-star recruit fills a void in 2012 that was left when Gabbert decided Louisville was not the correct choice for him.

Gardner will enter a Louisville depth chart that currently does not sport a single senior among its ranks.

After struggling with the thought of an open quarterback competition during spring ball, Tyler Gabbert decided to transfer from Missouri. His school of choice appeared to be Louisville.

Gabbert has since reconsidered. He left Louisville late last week and is now looking for a new program to take his talents.

"A source told me this afternoon that Gabbert, who had been in Louisville for less than a week, left this morning to return home and has no plans to come back," Card Chronicle reporter Mike Rutherford wrote.

The speculation has swirled, according to ESPN Radio 680's Jason Anderson, that Gabbert interested in returning to Missouri but the feeling hasn't been reciprocated.

Those schools which were in previous contention for Gabbert's services were Iowa, Wake Forest and Arizona according to the Iowa City Press-Citizen.
