So Friday afternoon I get home from work and a gentleman is at my front door talking to my wife trying to sell her ATT's u-verse service. When she sees me she directs the conversation to me as I handle all things technology related in our house hold. I usually push these guys away as soon as possible but this gentleman introduces himself as Awton and is a really nice guy, and does a good job of telling me about his product with out being pushy. I explain to him that I am interested in the service but won't be looking to change my cable or internet till August and ask him to come back around then because I would like to give him the business. He says off hand that if he is around then he will stop back by but if the lookout ends then he will hopefully be out of the ATT sales business.
I then size him up and realize this is a big fit guy and ask if he means the NFL lock out and if he plays for a team. He says not yet that he just graduated from U of L this year and that his pro day went really well but that he went undrafted, and due to the lock out his agent can't get him any workouts. I then ask for his full name and he says Antwon Canady.
I immediately shook his hand and thanked him for the great year the team had and told him how proud I was of this years team and how I made it to every home game but Kentucky. He said that they should have beaten those bums but the coaches wanted to prove a point to the seniors and played a bunch of freshman the first half until they realized their mistake at halftime (note: this was the first and only time I have ever questioned HCCS decision making.) and that we should have whooped them. I wished him luck and told him that instead of buying cable from him in August I hope to see him on cable in August. He said he hoped so too but right now his agent says it could be an 8 game season (yikes!) and then went on his way.
So if you see an ATT salesman in your neighborhood don't shoo them away it could be one of our own. Go Cards!
