As a Purvis update - apparently he chilled with John Wall for a bit today and said "it was the best car he has ever seen in his life" and though that is not basketball related it seems to be all these kids care about. All John Wall has to say is "ya, Cal can get you one too"

son-of-a-bitch.... if Purvis actually pulls the second consecutive Teague on us, the backlash at the Yum in 2012 is going to be unbelievable. And I know it might be harsh and he is just as kid, but I would honestly love to see him lose it and get ejected or start crying while 22,000 continue to boo him - I am not a mean spirited person but rivalries are rivalries and we, Cardnation, can't just let that shit go. Obviously at this point it is purely hypothetical.

......has it been 3 years yet, that is about the time it takes for the NCAA to figure out Paypal Cal is doign something shady again.

I think coach P could learn some things from Cal though.

Not any of the illegal stuff or unethical stuff. But Cal knows you have to wow these kids with NBA talent and connections (LeBron at UK games) as well as with NIKE/Adidas/Under Armour connections and focus more on the players. It sucks and the current set up is terrible for the game, but coach Cal is playing the ~~cards~~ he is dealt – - in other words, Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

An example of this that would help coach P that Cal does – but none of the illegal things! – would be to hold the NBA combine practice thing that Cal did for his guys at the end of the year. It is harmless and would have definitely helped TJ gauge things as well as possibly give Preston the chance to impress a scout and take a chance on him as a Free Agent. I hope the new coaches can show a little more of this creativity and player focus which really catches the eye of top recruits

Just as a sidecar to the above

I would hate to be a UK fan now more than ever because they have to learn an entirely new team each year – that to me flat out SUCKS!!! Some of my favorite UofL moments are the senior nights of !, Garcia, T-Will… grrr, and Gaines – of course!

I do not believe we need 4 of the top 10 recruits every year, but more can be done to assure that we are on the list of most every top player in the country to begin with and then our coaches can pick and choose who we want and who fits rather than having to chase them down and convince them. I think a typical UofL class, with all of our resources considered, should be something like: (in terms of national rank) #5, #17, #26, #31or something of that sort.

Purvis

Losing purvis would be bad, but louisville can still get ryan harrow or dvauntes smith rivera.
Smith Rivera is actually rated higher than Purvis.

It is not so much about losing Purvis

It is more about the possibility of losing our top recruit in a class to UK…. unacceptable. I actually think going after Ryan Harrow is a good tactic to get Purvis back because they are close friends – who knows maybe Harrow deciding to transfer is a big factor to Purvis de-comitting, so they can play together somewhere and have not figured out where yet.

I really like our new coaches and I have faith, I have been saying it for awhile now, that Pitino will not fizzle out at the end of his career – man has accomplished a lot and has an ego, as anyone would. I think he wants to go out on top, whoever these new guys land for 2012 and 2013 we will have at least a top 10 class and more likely top 5 when you factor in coach P, the YUM, the fans, and the city -- we have a pretty awesome city!

I don’t want this kid already. He obviously isn’t going to fit our system. You think just because he is a top prospect we need to have him and keep UK from getting him.

Did you not listen to the coaches press conference, it’s not about getting the best players. It’s about getting the best players that want to play for Louisville. Not the best players who are NBA draft in waiting.

Let this kid go to Kentucky I’m sure he’ll fit in just fine there.

I pretty much say everything you are saying, and yet you call me nuts.

and I do not care what rivalry or in what state with which coaches – it is unnacceptable to lose your top target in recruiting to your rival school 2 years in a row! Regardless of how you feel about Purvis, Pitino loved him and hired Fuller to get him and Keatts to try and keep him.

If we turn down 5 star NBA talent for 2 stars, then we are insane.

Look, Gary, I get what you are saying 100%. But you have to get talented players to win. You just have to.
For example, if Kyrie Irving does not hurt his toe, chances are Duke has another banner this year.
If Harrison Barnes doesn’t go insane against UK, that game isn’t close.
After benching T-Will, we saw what happened against MSU.

I know, after having a team like last year’s everyone saw what a bunch of hard-working gym rats could do. But it was a down year in college basketball. Talent is on the ups. If we are a top 5 program then we need top 5 players. UK went to the final four with a couple of NBA draft in waiting players. What I’m saying is that you need a good mix. You can’t just have NBA in waiting players or only average hard workers.

Yes and No

Yes twitter accounts with “cards” in the title were, but these days it is impossible to tell who is who. It is pathetic that this is true – UK, UNC, MIZZOU (as well as UL fans to be honest with other kids, truly pathetic) create fake accounts to look like a (insert team here) fan in order to bash recruits on twitter and make it look like the “home” team hates them. I think these kids are aware of that too but who knows.
