There had been speculation for several days that he might re-opened the recruiting process and he confirmed that he decommitted over the weekend with both Scout.com and ESPN.com.
"I just want to develop a new relationship with the new staff. Louisville isn't out or anything like that," Purvis told Scout.
Duke, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Kentucky were among the schools after him before he committed to Louisville. North Carolina is also likely going to be in the mix.
"It was hard losing Tim Fuller and then having to focus," Purvis told ESPN. "I talked it over with my family and we came to the conclusion that I would open up my recruitment."
