Johnny Patrick Drafted
I was in complete shock when Johnny Patrick's name was called as the 24th pick in the 3rd round (88th overall). I mean I know he projected to go in like the 4th round and when he went to New Orleans, that was even more suprising because they are SO deep at that position, but great for him. This is what espn.com has on Johnny:
What he brings: Patrick is instinctive and does a good job reading and anticipating routes, and he locates the ball and has good ball skills. However, he lacks elite fluidity and needs to be more aggressive and consistent in run support.
How he fits: This is an interesting pick because CB doesn't look like a big need and in fact they have terrific depth on paper on the edge and their bigger needs are inside at safety. As a result, we could see some juggling with Patrick or someone else but this defense likes to have a lot of versatile DBs to carry out their varied schemes.
He could be great in the league if they lift this lockout and he work hard. Go CARDS!

Good for JP
Wat about Bilal?
"Screech, you CAN'T elope!"
"Who are you calling a cantaloupe, you melonhead?"
Malcolm Jenkins
He was talked about being too slow to play corner when he was drafted. I see him moving to FS which opens up one of the corner spots. I think JP will be their nickel back when it is all said and done.

This is a good pick for Patrick. He’s playing on a legit Superbowl contender in the Saints. I’d say they’re the odds on favorite in the NFC now. They already drafted 2 really good players in the 1st round. Jordan might have been the best DE in the draft and Ingram is a do it all RB that will be a stud for many years in the league.
