Jones part comming from ESPN.
The NCAA has declared Baylor freshman Perry Jones ineligible for Wednesday night's Big 12 tournament opener against Oklahoma, Baylor officials announced in a press release before tipoff.
After learning of the NCAA's ruling Wednesday afternoon, Baylor filed an appeal to have Jones' eligibility restored.
"We are profoundly disappointed in the timing and determination in this matter," Baylor athletic director Ian McCaw said in the statement. "This outcome appears to be inconsistent with other recent, widely discussed NCAA decisions."
The NCAA decision stems from "three, 15-day loans between [Jones'] mother and AAU coach" during Jones' high school career, according to the Baylor release. Jones had no knowledge of the loans, although his AAU coach did pay Jones' way for a trip to San Diego for a preseason football game before Jones enrolled at Baylor, according to the release.
The loans were repaid in a timely manner, according to interviews conducted by Baylor officials and the NCAA staff.
"Perry is to be commended for being cooperative and forthcoming during this unfortunate process," McCaw said.
Multiple media outlets reported earlier that Jones could be done for the season.
Jones, who is averaging a Big 12 freshmen-best 13.8 points along with 7.2 rebounds per game for the Bears, was an All-Big 12 second team selection and is in the running for the Wayman Tisdale Award, which honors the country's best freshman.
Jones has been projected as a lottery pick if he opts to enter the NBA draft, so it's possible this could spell the end of his Baylor career, depending on the outcome of the appeal process.
Baylor doesn't face any sanctions from the NCAA.
Austin television station KEYE first reported the news.
When Baylor commit Quincy Miller decided he was going to be a Baylor Bear his college career, us at cardchronicle(including myself) though that maybe some money was involved. Not to be bias here, but if a young man compared to Kevin Durant at 18 years old has to choose his COLLEGE Career between Louisville and Rick Pitino, Duke and Coach K, and Baylor and Scott Drew, the smart recruit wouldn't even have Baylor in discussion with the two top 10 Basketball Schools ever. Thats of course if he wasn't being bribed. Miller also said "It's all about getting a national championship," With Duke having the best SG comming in with Rivers, and Louisville having a top 5 class and he denys that for Baylor, kind of makes you think a little bit more right?
With this being said, does this lead you to suspiciously think that Louisville target Quincy Miller could of as well been paid.
I have been watching Millers mixtapes and following QTV exclusively on oneentertainmenthoops.com, I absolutley love this kid, and it kills me that at the end of the day he is still going to be attending Baylor. So what do you think about Jones being out for know and what do you think about Quincy Miller?
Do you believe Quincy Miller was paid to attend Baylor?
