It was shortly before basketball season started and I had just ran a Google search for Preston videos. I came across a video Mike had posted of Preston making a shot from the seats and then doing the Preston Dance. After watching it about 10 times I decided to check out CC and have been back every day since. I can honestly say the posts and people on this site made this season 100 times more enjoyable for me. (Ok I don't know how to measure that but 100 times sounds good) Funny side note: when I saw the video was posted by someone named Mike Rutherford I pictured him in his 50's with a beard. You may wonder why I haven't posted anything until now if I am here every day. You see I don't like to change my game-watching routine during the season when things are going well. And they were going very, very well. So I was convinced if I posted, or even joined CC I might single-handedly cause the downfall of our team. Ridiculous I know, especially since we lost in Round 1 & UK is now in the FF. So before things get any worse I thought I should post.
First I want to comment on our season. As crushed as I am, I really think what I'll remember from this season is how fun the games were to watch, and how the players left it all on the court every game. I know there are no moral victories, and almost doesn't count, but how many other fans experienced what we did this season? I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this and say that it's how the season ends that matters. I'm not going to say that I'm satisfied with a first round loss, but I'm certainly not angry at the team or CRP. It's easy to be an armchair coach and criticize, but that's not our job as fans.
As far as dealing with Kentucky fans, I've found the best thing to do is ignore them. The thing about UK fans is they would still think they were superior to us if they had just lost by 60 in the first round of the NIT. Just think how exhausting it must have been for them all these years bragging about how awesome they were with nothing to show for it ~ I really think they get more satisfaction out of Louisville losing than they do out of UK winning, as evidenced by all of the trolling they do on our site. It's really pathetic if you think about it. The last place I would want to go after a big win would be a UK site. Especially after that guy's bestiality comment on our thread, I'm scared of what I might see. But as much as I can't stand Calipari, this year I don't have a huge problem with the players. They made it this far and have earned the right to celebrate. The fans are the ones that are beyond obnoxious. I'm sure they will read this and somehow take it as a compliment. But our getting upset and admitting that it bothers us only adds fuel to their fire, and they never need much anyway. The one good things to come from this is that with all the t-shirts they are rolling out it will be much easier to spot the idiots. By the way thanks to whoever commented on the family at the airport wearing UK2K shirts arguing about food, that was great.
So in conclusion (yes finally), I am going to remember how proud I was to be a Cardinal fan this season, how much I will miss Preston!, and how adorable Peyton is. And remember UK may still be playing, but we get to wake up every morning as Louisville fans, walk upright, and use indoor plumbing.
** One more thing. I have a request for all you photoshopping geniuses since I have no such skills. Remember the movie Wrong Turn? Could someone please photoshop a UK shirt on one of the inbreeds? I would be forever grateful.
