I'm over it
We had a great season, and I loved this team. Morehead State just out played us, but now it’s time to just enjoy the rest of the tournament.
I wouldn't say Morehead state outplayed us.
they won. That’s all I know. outplayed? If that kid missed the last shot would we have outplayed them? Fuck it. I’m still a little touchy about this I guess. Anyway, I agree 100% about enjoying the tournament. I still love college basketball even if UL’s out.

Why are you people bothering to post in this thread?
If you don’t want to think about basketball, why are you here?
"Screech, you CAN'T elope!"

My UofL Cards got eliminated yesterday
and then my Clark County Cards got punked by Eastern in the Kentucky Sweet Sixteen this morning.
I’ll be cheering for Morehead State from here on out, but that’s all I got.

preston played for clark county, right?

Sorry 'bout your Clark Co Cards
Still, I’m trying to enjoy my favorite time of year. Not easy. This morning I was just going through the motions and pretending to be a human being. But these afternoon games have put a bit of spirit back in me.
Teams I’m rooting for: Morehead, ‘Nova, Michigan, any other B.E. team, and anybody who’s playing UK. I don’t know if y’all saw that Richmond game, but they’re fun too.
by BostonCardFan on Mar 18, 2011 3:00 PM EDT up reply actions
I live in Richmond now
so I still have two adopted-hometown teams to root for. I’m ambivalent about rooting for certain BE teams, WVU and Georgetown in particular… I will reluctantly root for the ’Eers against Kentucky, but tonight my sentiments will be with VCU. (I also work for VCU hospital, so I identify with the Rams somewhat.)
"Screech, you CAN'T elope!"
"Who are you calling a cantaloupe, you melonhead?"
In Richmond too...
and I had to listen to UofR fans going crazy for Morehead St. yesterday at a bar because they wanted no piece of UofL in the second round if they won their game against Vandy (which of course they did). And it is hard to get back into basketball, but it is baby steps. Go VCU. Go UofR!
Where do you go to watch?
My cable went out in last week’s storm and I wound up watching the second half of one of the BET games in a dive on Robious Road – I live in Powhatan and it was the first place I came across that looked like it would have a TV.

Watched a bit of Pitino's post game presser
“I’ve been coaching a long time, and after today maybe too long.” Hopefully this doesn’t carry any weight.

If you watch the whole presser you'd understand that's not what he meant at all
A reporter asked a follow-up to that statement and he made it clear he’s not leaving and what he meant by the full statement.

Quit whining RP
Hell yes this is a RANT! I’m not gonna bash the kids. Especially Preston, Siva and Kuric. I still love this group of players. Pk we love ya dog! Wish you the best. These kids played there ass off for coach and were unprepared for Morehead, freaking Morehead. He can’t adjust to in game situations and why have we been flat for the last several games. I’m not gonna mention his substitution patterns. We tip-off about 10 minutes after the other team now for about 2 weeks.WTF. Wake up Rick! This fan base and the community is tired of your smart ass remarks about our knowledge of Bball and were to poor for this and can’t afford that. We pack the YUM 22,000 strong every game and pay outrageous prices for it all the while you get PAID BANK . One week you praise how were the highest revenue team in th ecountry and then bash us by not going to NY and Denver. Bottom Line the SHIT is fucking expensive for people and families so back off. You on the other hand deicide to tarnish our schools image by banging some skank for 15 secs. F U. Leave will find a coach to replace you. Guarranteed BEEEEOOOTTCH!
Give me 5 reasons they were unprepared.
Give me 5 coaches who would be better. If they had not made that last second shot, you would not make this rant. Are you one of those Scorpio Whacker people who find reasons to hate? I mean Jesus Christ people, I don’t think any of this is justified. How about thinking of our players, who I love, that completely choked. It isn’t coaching when you don’t hit FT’s, it isn’t coaching when you spot a team 15 points, it isn’t coaching, when you can’t hit a layup that isn’t coaching.
I know this makes me look like a ####, but give me a break.

The thing is, Pitino is right. Rant all you want, it doesn’t change the facts.
"Screech, you CAN'T elope!"
"Who are you calling a cantaloupe, you melonhead?"
+1
I may rant even further. Look a Cat fans. They will go ANYWHERE.. And we can’t even fill a football HOME game. We were outdone by MOREHEAD STATE. We are just a very weak traveling fan base. I also hate the double standard with Charlie and Rick. Charlie can complain all he wants, but when Rick just IMPLIES something, we go balistic. This is jus creepy…

Anybody watch Michigan house Tennessee today?
I’ll assume, like everyone else, that Bruce Pearl is done as a Vol. Hey, Providence has an opening…
by UL is my hot hot sex on Mar 18, 2011 3:44 PM EDT reply actions
I enjoyed the hell out of that game
rooting against Bruce Pearl is fun. watching Tim Hardaway Jr is fun. And any interview with Tim Hardaway Sr is automatically fun.

Disagree - losing by 30 is much worse. I'm not at all embarrassed by the way we lost. Just disappointed that it happened.
by cardsinindy2010 on Mar 18, 2011 5:06 PM EDT up reply actions
A little embaressing....
It is very close. Depends on the opponent. If we lost by 30 to Michigan, I guess that would be a little worse.

If you need a reason to feel better, go watch a Wayne Blackshear video.
Next year really should be better. And this year, overall, was pretty damn good.
by cardsinindy2010 on Mar 18, 2011 3:59 PM EDT up reply actions
hahaha...
that’s exactly what I did this afternoon.
by BostonCardFan on Mar 18, 2011 4:00 PM EDT up reply actions
Word has it that Wayne's Youtube views are waayyyyy up today.

I also penciled in next year's roster
and started fantasizing about lineup combinations.
by BostonCardFan on Mar 18, 2011 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions
It's pretty ridiculous. I am guessing we are ranked anywhere from 5-10 based on returning experience and incoming talent.
I know, I know, I know. Don’t count on your recruits before they play. I usually don’t. But man, from what I’ve seen of Blackshear and Behanan, they are both the real deal. I just can’t imagine how we’re not better with those guys available, Buckles/Swop (at least one of them), and a year-older Gorgui.
The future is bright. Even when we flamed out in the first round, we didn’t do in Tennessee fashion; we dug in, made a gritty comeback, and got beat on a great play (no, I’m not talking about Faried’s block, and let’s not go there). With this team’s grit and next year’s talent, anything is possible.
by cardsinindy2010 on Mar 18, 2011 4:18 PM EDT up reply actions
I'm going to go out on a limb and predict
that we won’t lose to Morehead next year.
by johnnyjoejohnson on Mar 18, 2011 4:21 PM EDT up reply actions
yup
I can’t say I’m ready to feel good yet, but at least next year’s roster has me feeling less bad
by BostonCardFan on Mar 18, 2011 4:21 PM EDT up reply actions
Then think about one other thing - IU. They're just hoping to get back to the NIT next year.
We’ve taken some licks, but we haven’t had it that rough. I hope we never see a 3-4 year sequence like what they’ve had.

I think of us as a bit like OSU coming into this season...
Some outstanding freshmen to complement solid, experienced returnees. I cannot freaking wait.
Oh, and I expect that the injury bug is taking next year off after derailing anything and everything it could this year.

Hasn't signed a LOI yet, isn't gonna be here next year. Can't cheer me up.
But assuming he one day arrives, he is something.

not a chance. the tournament’s still on.

Wow, what a finish for George Mason
Feel bad for Nova on that no-call though, looked like an obvious blocking a foul.

Anybody read the recent book called Scorecasting? Excellent read on what really is going on in sports. It investigates and debunks a lot of ‘common knowledge’ among coaches, players, fans, etc. There’s a whole section about referees that’s amazing. It’s a must read.

The weekend is near. There will be much drinking and remembering some of the great times from this season.
by cardsinindy2010 on Mar 18, 2011 4:52 PM EDT reply actions
We should have a VillenHD viewing party.
Go through all the season’s wins in like 10 or 15 minute intervals. Celebrate the good times.
Did the Cards arrive home at 3? Was there a crowd to meet them?

So we can feel a little worse about yesterday?
The fact that the WVU game and the MHSU game both happened in the same season, let alone the same span of 2 weeks, is ridiculous.

Gus is the only thing close to a remedy in this situation
Still painful, but his enthusiasm, plus a really great game, can actually start your basketball heart beating again.
So Kansas looks unstoppable, right?
Right? Ugh.
