Pitino, Jennings talk about the loss to Cincinnati
Rick Pitino, wearing what appears to be a vintage Chicago Bulls Starter jacket, looks surprisingly upbeat after a plodding 63-54 loss to Cincinnati:
TJ, who finished the game with a team-high 14 points, talks about effort and execution:
Queen City Highs & Lows:
- The 54 points scored inside Cincinnati's Fifth Third Arena represent the 2nd lowest point total this season for Louisville (Lowest: 46 points vs. Drexel)
- Louisville's four made three point field goals ties a season low and 17 three point field goal attempts is second lowest
- Louisville's four made free throws sets a new season low and 7 attempted free throws ties the season low
- Louisville's 11 assists are the second lowest total this season
- Louisville's 6 steals ties for the second lowest takeaways this season
- Cincinnati's 11 steals are the second highest number of takeaways recorded against Louisville this season

we got worked
nothing went right defensively for us and too many fouls inside
- Gates owned us
best thing from this? we go into practice getting ready to beat the F*ck out of UCONN Friday.
GO CARDS!
Gates owned us?
No every time Gates got the ball he was dogged. They either called a foul on us or he was forced to pass out of the post. It seemed like he traveled almost every time he got the ball but of course the refs don’t give us the call.
They got the calls because they deserved it

I will kindly disagree
While I do think Cincinnati deserved the win, every time Louisville tried to fight back they were penalized. I was there and had a pretty good view of the game, sitting half-court about halfway up. There were two consecutive possessions, midway through the second half when we were within 5 or 7 points, in which UC should have been called for a 10-second violation. The first time, UC crossed midcourt with 21 seconds left on the shot clock. I hate blaming officials, therefore I won’t, but it was almost impossible for Louisville to put together any sort of run. I give all the credit to UC and their fan base for showing up, playing great defense, and being crazy loud in that little arena. With that being said, no team is deserving of “getting calls” more than the other. The should be called the same way on both ends of the floor.

It was
A reference to what one of the announcers said during the game. At one point they were talking about how -nati “deserved” calls. Espn…smh

I was there
Also and was screaming my head off when there was no 10 second call it was absolutely ridiculous the refs would not let us get into a rhythm.

I would tend to agree on the foul calls when they were driving…
But some of the calls in the low post were absolute nonsense, as were the no calls when they were holding our cutters, specifically Kyle. Would it have changed the game, who knows for sure? But I think it would have altered UC’s style of play. I seem to remember the game when UC only had six fouls called and it was all Mick could talk about in the post game presser.
Higgins
I hate the guy and would love to blame this on him and his crew but the truth is UC flat outplayed us. We tried hard but UC played by far its best game of the year and we didn’t play as well as usual. Shit happens.
Agreed
We looked really really flat and cincy played very good. Reminded me of the providence game

See, even Rick has lost track of the segments.
Cincy was the first game in the next to last segment.
