Mum has been the word in recent weeks when it comes to former Seneca High School star quarterback DaMarcus Smith. That changed today when the Elite 11 QB, who has been committed to Louisville for more than a year, said that he will make his official college announcement at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
This falls in line with the "not good" theme of the past month.
Smith said all the right things when Miami Northwestern quarterback Teddy Bridgewater committed to Louisville in December, but that changed a bit when Bridgewater was able to enroll early at U of L in January and Smith wasn't cleared. Smith visited Central Florida two weeks ago and returned saying that he had a lot to think about and that the Cardinal staff was aware of the situation.
Smith is expected to be choosing between Louisville and UCF, but now there's also the added fact of Kentucky's Ryan Mossakowski announcing his intention to transfer yesterday thrown into the equation. I would expect that multiple members of the Wildcat staff will be traveling to the Derby City at least once between now and Friday.
