Your 2011 Card Chronicle Man Of The Year

After more than 48 hours of voting, we have a tie.

Charlie Strong and Preston Knowles each garnered 34% of the votes cast for the 2011 Card Chronicle Man of the Year and (almost unbelievably) finished with an identical number of individual votes. Teddy Bridgewater was your third choice with 17%.

That being the case, I present to you the first ever Card Chronicle "Men of the Year":

PRESTON KNOWLES

Thanks to all who voted and congratulations to the honorees.

As a guy who voted for HCCS and campaigned for Preston!

I couldn’t be happier with this result.

How did preston make up so much ground?

a) Recent basketball games led to people realizing how much we miss preston
b) UL football loses in the Belk Bowl
c) someone stuffed the ballot box

I can’t help but think it was c. I had no part in it. My style is more to call people assholes than try to actually change anything. And, to consider more extreme measures (e.g., srandom death threats) when calling people assholes doesn’t make me feel any better. You don’t want to know what happens when death threats don’t work. Let’s just say, shit gets weird.

It's tempting to blame ballot box stuffing

but even if there were some of that – to have it end in an exact tie seems like predestination. This was meant to be.

+1

(Frankly, I wondered if stuffing wasn’t how CS zoomed out in front so much so early, so maybe any stuffers balanced themselves out)

The outcome feels rigged.

But this feels like one no one minds.

Best possible outcome.

Somewhere, Chicken Knowles is blaming his commitment to Houston.

I wore Chicken to the Bucket to the Bucket last night. Untested.

Imagine it will be many a day before I even touch that shirt again.
