In honor of Kyle Kuric's letter to fans asking for toy donations to the Kosair Childrens Oncology floor, I wanted to post this picture from his freshman year. Two months after my then 5 year old son Shawn was diagnosed with Leukemia, we were invited to a private Louisville basketball scrimmage at the Yum practice facility. Kyle obviously made my son's day a bit brighter and I am happy to hear he still is reaching out to kids like my boy. My now 8 year old has one month remaining on his 3 1/2 year fight against Leukemia and is doing terrific.

From another cancer survivor (albeit much less aggressive), keep up the fight!
And put it all in God’s hands if you’ve not already. Great and inspirational song here.

The former King = Cure for Cancer.
I knew that kid was something special.
I remember watching your YouTube videos and reading about Shawn back in the day.
Great to hear he is doing well, and this is a purely awesome photo.

go to Youtube and search...
for “JBOCARDFAN”…that was my Youtube name. Been a bit busy over the last few years but glad CrumsRevenge and Villen have taken up the slack!
Branch?
Assuming you did Basic/AIT/OCS back to back to back. How are you liking it?

CDAT. haha
Lewis is a great place. Can NEVER run out of things to do there if you can get past the I5 parking lot.
I was former Infantry, force branched chemical when I commissioned, but ran into my former BN CDR in Korea who was about to pin on one star… He got me back into the Infantry. Funny thing is, I got my TAB as a CHEMO.

Honestly, I know women who could make it if given the opportunity
The only thing you have to do is be in somewhat reasonable shape, be able to go on 4(-) hours of sleep a night, and be able to go off of one “meal” a day – unless you’re a winter ranger, then you get more sleep and 2 MREs/day. I was a winter ranger and it’s honestly the best time to go IMO. Some guys were buying MREs for $25-$100 a pop. I never sold mine, but I never needed them all either.
The biggest thing is the mental aspect and by mental, I mean being able to put up with the BS.
Walking up mount Yonah(?) with a 240B (might have been an M60, but I don’t think so – it was several years ago), Tripod, and some extra ammo was about the closest thing to a kick in the nuts I can remember and the closest thing to what I expected from Ranger School day in and day out. We did a couple of “movements to daylight” that were tiring as hell, but other than that, I was honestly disappointed. Mount Yonah was no joke and broke me off on the movement in. After about five times of denying help with the 240B, I finally sought some about 3/4ths of the way up and going from a 240 to an M4 was like going to a weighted bat to a whiffle ball bat.
Making it past the first few days is key too. It’s where the RIs do some pretty shady crap to weed out the “weaker” elements because they themselves cannot keep up.

If you go the reserve route...
The 8/229th AVN REGT (Flying Tigers) at Ft. Knox are always looking for a chemo. I was their Sig-o for awhile before the honorable discharge. Great unit.
Awesome post!
Have a great holiday season and GO CARDS!

Thanks Frank...
…my family is very grateful for everything you and the rest of the Louisville Cardinal community helped us with back then.
Thanks for posting!
So glad you and your son are doing well. I appreciate all of the Cards videos you have posted over the years. Legend!
