How Far Louisville Football Has Come In two Years

This doesn't bear any direct significance on the weekend that's in front of us, but I just watched the the following video from Charlie Strong's introductory press conference and felt an immediate need to share it.

That press conference was on Dec. 9, 2009. In about 26 hours, there's a chance that Louisville will have locked up its first trip to a BCS game since 2006. It's unbelievable how much ground this man has been able to make up in two years.

me too

exactly why I don’t think he leaves Louisville. This man was due a head coaching position for years, and never got a chance. Now that he has it, and its his to keep, I don’t see him going anywhere.

One exception: Florida

They treated him pretty nice there as well and the fans love him. If we don’t get to the Big 12 and the Big East fails to rebuild, I could see him leaving for UF. Unfortunately, with Muschamp’s performance, that could be sooner rather than later.

unreal...

how much Coach Strong has made me love him in the last 2 years.

NO NO NO

It is December, where coaches are getting fired and hired like mad. We don’t need to feed the ’Charlie Strong to " beast.

Charlie Strong has NOT done the job, and Louisville football is NOT on the mend. In fact, I would venture to guess that Louisville football is still in DECLINE. Louisville should, however, stay with Charlie Strong for a few more years to build this program up.

That is how you quell the Strong rumors.. :)

Im sure the board of trustees at Penn State and Texas A&M

look at ‘blogs’ to decide who to hire. No one is feeding anything here but appreciation and respect.

Besides, everyone knows Kragthorpe is a shoe in for the Penn State job.

Krag

that is one sure fire way to clean out the PSU program.. Even the fans would bail.

The one thing that really makes me think this man among men will stay and coach here for a long time, are those tears.

We love you HCCS. In two years you have literally became my favorite head coach of all time. I know a lot of you maybe argue other coaches and you have your reasons.

I’m 25 years old and haven’t had someone I looked up to as a hero figure since I was about 12.

This guy is my freaking hero, Every card march I make it to I feel empowered and intimidated simultaneously when I slap his hand.

Word can't express how happy I am that he is leading our football program

So, I’ll let a picture say what words cannot

Never leave us Charlie. Please… never leave us.

There is a reason...

Why I wanted Charlie Strong to come back to UF and lead us. The man can coach. I miss him like crazy. I’m glad you guys are enjoying him. He’s a classy dude.

Gator fan here,

and I’m ecstatic to see Charlie doing well up there in Louisville. He was always a class act and one hell of a football coach for UF. If Urban hadn’t retained him, a different team would have taken home the crystal in 2006.

I hope you guys can keep him for years to come. His 2008 defense was a thing of beauty, one of the best I remember watching. As Bridgewater matures and the offense comes around, the Cards should be back at the top of the Big East for a while.

Ditto

but we have bigger plans than the top of the dung heap that is the Big East.

Thanks for the kind words Gator fans.

I applied/got accepted to UF and visited the school, it was a wonderful experience but pretty far out of my price range. Either way, I was pretty close to being half-gator. You all have a lot to be proud of. I hope Muschamp figures things out down there.

Thanks! It’s to bad it didn’t work out. UF has awesome academics. Anytime I see L’ville on I watch. I pull for y’all. That presser says it all. The dude has a huge heart, and I’m glad a classy school like L’ville gave him the shot he deserved.

I was raised a big time gator fan and am still very much one.

I hated to see HCCS leave Florida but at the same time I loved him coming to Louisville. Florida has the name to rebuild, and I think HCCS will start, hopefully, a tradition on football here.

When Charlie Strong...

uhummm…Coach Strong was announced as Louisville’s new Head Football Coach, I immediately new something special had occurred…of course the flock of Angels (wearing U of L wings) certainly added to the moment.

CS is the epitome of a Coach. He’s there for the player and the young man. He’;s there for the school and the fans. Courteous, joyful, positive, “strong” character, name that positive attribute and Charlei Strong exudes it. Of course this is my totally unbiased, objective-based, non-partisan assessment.

Yeah! Right!

FYI: My prediction is he stays a long time. Becomes the “Denny Crum” of U of L football.

Go Cards!

Story time...

Walking across Ohio States campus today there was a guy wearing a UConn hoodie walking the opposite direction. I raised my hand to give him a high five and said “Beat Cincinnati” which got a interesting look. I then revealed my Dunking Cardinal shirt to him and he just smiled and kept on walking… best 15 seconds of the day thus far.

I want to be in Miami. I want to go Big Willie Style.

I live in Huskies territory

And nobody up here could care less about UCONN football. It’s basketball season.

Shame.

somtimes there’s a man, I won’t say a hero, ‘cause what’s a hero? But sometimes there’s a man, and I’m talking about Coach Strong here, some times there’s a man, well he’s the man for his time and place, he fits right in there. And that’s coach strong, and the place is Louisville.

by dlpfis79 on Dec 2, 2011 8:00 PM EST reply actions

They call Louisville the possibility city. I didn’t find it to be that exactly, but I’ll allow as there are some nice folks there. ‘Course, I can’t say I seen London, and I never been to France, and I ain’t never seen no queen in her damn undies as the fellah says. But I’ll tell you what, after seeing the Louisville Cardinals and this here story I’m about to unfold—well, I guess I seen somethin’ ever’ bit as stupefying’ as you’d see in any a those other places, and in English too, so I can die with a smile on my face without feeling’ like the good Lord gypped me.

I bleed red and black. I poop blue.
