It's not that "old" Mike didn't do it for me, it's just that New Mike brings more to the game. I get the sense that he's better connected now and with these new literary associations with other writers at SBN he has stepped up his game. One of the coolest aspects of the site now is that it can feel like a true community blog: due to Mike's added responsibilities with the SB Nation, it allows regular readers to contribute on a more frequent basis. It makes me feel like my writing has a higher chance of making it on the front page (and come on, who doesn't giggle a little bit when their stuff ends up on the front page of CC? if it hasn't happened yet, contribute more. It's
freaking fucking awesome. I peed a little that one time.).
Fortunately for us, no-pants parties have never left the site as well as throwbacks from as far back (and often further back than) we can remember. Honestly, who the hell has one of these? And who the hell is Bryce Cotton anyway? Wtf?!
I feel as though giddy-Mike has never left the site while maintaining a foundation of integrity and level-headedness, which is nearly impossible to find in a sports blogger's site. Believe me, I've looked. Doesn't really exist elsewhere.
Cheers to you, Mike. I truly believe the site hasn't dropped a beat because of the increased guest posts and the insight you seem to continue to build upon. I, for one, would not mind paying a subscription fee, as I am confident there is no better site out there to get my University of Louisville news, analysis, rumors, firepower for opposing teams, recruiting updates, Friday Irrelevance (you miss another, and I will find you. Please don't fuck with my Fridays. Love you.), and entirely justified no-pants parties.
I commented on another post, but if you're a reader here and not happy with the subscription fee as it is, I say vote with your feet.
