Monster weekend on tap for Louisville athletics
A weekend featuring one major Cardinal sporting event is always a blessing. A weekend featuring three major Cardinal sporting events and an abundance of storylines is...well, let's just say I'm tearing up a little bit, and it's not just because the last episode of The Wonder Years is on. Karen's baby looks just like Kevin...he looks just like Kevin.
Here's everything we should be looking forward to this weekend:
--The start of the 2011-2012 Louisville basketball season tonight at 7 p.m. against Tennessee-Martin.
--The Cardinals carrying a top ten (No.8/9) national ranking into the start of the season.
--Rick Pitino going for career win No. 600 tonight. If he does it, U of L will join North Carolina and Oklahoma State as the only programs to have two different coaches reach the mark while at their school.
--Gorgui.
--The Louisville football team taking the field against Pitt just 15 hours or so after the final horn sounds inside the Yum tonight.
--The temperature rising back into the '60s for the final tailgate of the year.
--The Cardinals coming into the game sitting alone in second place in the Big East and just a game behind Cincinnati.
--The Bearcats facing West Virginia at the same time as the U of L game.
--Senior Day festivities as 16 seniors - including Dexter Heyman, Greg Scruggs and Josh Chichester - play their final game inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
--Another home basketball game against Lamar Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.
It's an embarrassment of riches, really. Enjoy it all, guys and gals.

Don't forget
Louisville Soccer in the final four this weekend in NJ. Although not in Louisville, still very big games for the Soccer team on the big stage.

And don't forget the Louisville Women's Soccer team
which begins its journey in the NCAA tournament tomorrow at 7 p.m. vs. Dayton at Card Park.
The RETURN of Peyton! and final (in town) tailgate with my favorite Cards fans!
We’ll do it all again at our bowl game!
All that mixed in with Pacquiao/Marquez Saturday night and it's gonna be a damn good weekend
I may just clean Roosters out of traditional wings.

Hell yeah another Roosters fan
Roosters > Hooters, BW3, or any other wing joint.

You know it! Roosters buries them all. Those damn things are gonna be the death of me.

Are you a Preston, Dixie, or So Indiana Roosters fan
They are all very close to my heart but, im kinda partial to Preston.
Hell I didnt even know the UFC was on this weekend.. I may plant myself at roosters tomorrow at noon and not leave until midnight. LOL
Preston
I live like 5 mins from there. Used to go there a lot growing up when it was Ryan’s for years. But, they definitely changed the place for the better. First time I tried their wings I was hooked. Meaty, juicy, succulent!!!
Pacquiao/Marquez is boxing, btw. But, defintely not one to be missed. Pac always brings it.
I’m sure I’ll be stopping by in there at some point Saturday. Not eating wings between three good sporting events has gotta be a crime.

Yeah im in the same boat
Im about 5 min from there myself…
Im pretty fired up for the Pac fight. Any fight hes a part of typically is fun to watch. If im not mistaken there is also a UFC heavy Weight fight as well. I think its a freebie on FOX.
Have you had the wings at the backdoor on Baxter?
Just saying best in Louisville.
I bleed red and black. I poop blue.

I believe so.
I think they open at around 4 everyday, but during NFL season they open at 1 on Sundays.
I bleed red and black. I poop blue.
Cool. Thanks for the info. Will check them out when I'm around that way.

Is Baxter close to UPS?
I had some wings while at a meeting for UPS back in the day. Wanted to find that place at any cost those wings were soo good. The Backdoor seems like it might have been the name of the place??? If so, next time I’m in Louisville, I’m GOING!
GO! CARDS!
BEAT!
PURDUE!
mmmm... brain damage for dollatrs

meant to be taken the same way
no one is really embarrassed about riches, nor will I be with no pants.
Aren't we really a game and a half back of Cincy?
Not to ruin anything…

Nope
Half game back, if we’re being technical. 3-0 vs. 3-1. Even though they have the tiebreaker, if we tie we’re still “co-champions.”

Was the team on Sunday founded by Lamar Hedley?
Mongo just pawn in big game of life.
November basketball guarantees:
1. Bizarre substitution patterns
2. nonsensical line ups on the floor
3. someone will spend way too much time on the bench
4. someone will spend way too much time on the floor
5. Pitino’s post game presser will include at least one shot at someone’s deficiencies (Russ seems to be his early favorite)
5. Pitino’s post game presser will lament the lack of something (e.g. 3 point shooters) he obviously has

6. Someone will bitch about Pitino’s substitution patterns whether we win or lose

7. Mysterious injury rumors leading to rampant speculation about practice philosophy

8. Pitino’s post game presser will compliment the opponent way too much and make you wonder how UofL ever got the win.

I need a place/people to tailgate with.
All my friends are lame. I usually just show up to games and buy tickets about 30 minutes before kick-off.
