ACC athletic director on conference realignment: "We always keep our television partners close to us. ESPN is the one who told us what to do. This was football; it had nothing to do with basketball.’’

ESPN told them what to do?
Horse hockey.

Let’s not forget, we were supposed to play Georgia, but ESPN wanted them to play Boise State instead.

Oh, I thought you meant the NC game was set up for ESPN

as someone unfamiliar with what went down vis-a-vis Us and Georgia,
Could someone explain to me what happened? Is there legitimate reason to claim/believe Ess-pen had a hand?

Yep
We were scheduled to play GA this year. But ESPN wanted to schedule a Boise State game against a SEC team and lined up GA and paid them to pay us to buy out of the contract. They had a similar situation whereby they had someone buy out of a game with UNC which is how we ended up playing UNC instead of GA.
Contract in place
ESPN funds the buy out of the contract so UGA can get beat up by Boise in the Chick-fil-A ass kicking… I mean Kick Off.
Most years that wouldn’t be an issue but it was done pretty late and it wasn’t easy to find a new 12th game.

Hell ville 606 has been saying this all along.
Merge conferences, cut back on contracts.

Everybody likes a good conspiracy theory...
I’ve got my own. And sometimes these theories have merit—which is how I feel in this case. I see the ACC raid as a perfect confluence of interests. Coaches K and Williams get to be back on top of the basketball heap. ESPN/ABC knocks out a major conference for which they would have either overpaid for (to keep the basketball) or lose to NBC (remember that massive BE contract we kept hearing about?). Pitt and Syracuse find their way out of conference damaged by a vacuum of leadership.
All day saturday on the family of networks.
ACC, B1G (somehow, since they have they’re own network), SEC, and Pac 12 late at night. They sensed the goverment on them a couple of years ago, so they dropped ESPN the magazine, Bassmasters, and anything hunting. They also split NASCAR with ABC.

More proof
That ESPN hates Louisville.

ESPN doesn't hate Louisville,
ESPN loves money. And right now, Louisville doesn’t mean any money to them.
